Yeah... That was a poor choice of words on my part. I don't turn my back on, or my attention away from, my opponent either. In the written technique, however, we are going from facing the opponent with all our weapons engaged forward to a reverse bow (which temporarily cuts off the use of two of those weapons)and then - to use your words - "striking backwards." Since we aren't using the stance to buckle, I'm just throwing the question out there... What's the sense in repositioning ourselves to strike backwards? Me...I dunno.
