Response to Shield and Mace
...that Juan&Cliff can manage a bob&weave. Otherwise, I'd point out three things:
1) The essential problem with learning the "advanced," "more sophisticated," version first is this: you can derive an, "advanced," "more sophisticated," "tailored," version from the ideal base, but you can't easily derive the base from any one advanced and sophisticated version.
2) If you start with the, "more advanced," version--and there only appears to ever be ONE of those in these discussions--you may very well also lose the set of other choices. I'd suggest that the ideal, base version's there as a sort of folder out of which you and pull the others, and maybe you wouldn't want to pull one version out, throw away the folder, and announce that you'd found the One Right Way.
3) The arm may not be the only part of the attacker to have a, "point of stop," on it, I'd suggest.
