Response to A Form versus a "Real Principle" of Combat

I was told this by one who is pretty moxie...

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/moxie

Definition for those who may not know the term^^^

I see no value in any form as a method for teaching techniques. Form 8 was a desperate attempt to have a knife set and incorporate Ed's Universal Pattern. Its weakness is that it is against an unarmed opponent - like taking a knife to a fist fight. You will realize how inept the form is, when compared with individual knife techniques that actually work.

The thought came to my mind about those who taught it and those who have figured it is not worth teaching...Way up the ladder as to who you would teach it, and to whom...

By then, they are not going to be buying into it, LOL...

But the idea about the universal pattern being enforced or re-enforced is good...IMHO

Regards,
Gary
