I should have said position recognition AND the equation formula, as opposed to just position recognition alone. I'm sure you produce capable Kenpoists just the same. I just don't see anything in what you're saying that makes me think, "Well, damn...I'm doing this all wrong."
As for Cat Com, like I said, I see it as a means of understanding AK as a system - it does not, however, translate directly into combat methodology. I find it useful in that, by looking at the curriculum as pieces of a big puzzle, you gain a better understanding of why a particular portion of a technique which might, on the surface, seem awkward, inefficient, unnecessary, etc. actually contains some vital bit of information. I think people would be less inclined to "improve" or "evolve" the techniques if they had a greater understanding of how some of these seemingly impractical bits complete the puzzle and would instead apply the equation formula to the Ideals in combat. This is where position recognition takes over.
