That was a list of thirds and up.

Someone editing didn't do so well either-- Frank Elsasser is listed as a 3rd and 4th.

It was also months after Mr. Parker's death. I am sure people had already left to form their own groups, WKKA, etc.

It is misleading. The webmaster claims it was before Ed Parkers' passing.

In fact it was after.

There is no Huk Planas for instance.

Mr. Planas

May not have been part of the IKKA then. After Mr. Parker died, and the IKKA ran into issues, he worked with the WKKA and Joe Palanzo. I went to the WKKA site to see if they had any mention of when it was formed but I couldn't find it after a quick glance through.

This newsletter is up to 9 months after Mr. Parker's death.

This is an example of what was going on with many problems within the IKKA. The name John Izzo for example as a 7th Degree is a joke. This guy was not a Kenpo man but later came under the IKKA banner.
Huk Planas was not listed and to list Mike Pick as a 4th Degree is even more hilarous as many of us new his rank as a higher level.
As a matter of fact I believe it was Mr.Trejo who posted some time ago on this forum that he was a witness to the fact Mike Pick was a 7th Degree given to him by SGM Ed Parker.
There are many names including mine and Jeff Speakman's who were at that time in and around 1990 both 4th Degree's as we were proud members of the IKKA organization.
It is also a known fact after Mr.Parker's passing when you ordered the "Infinite Insight" books you no longer would get the Family Tree chart that came along with it....Politics...Politics...Politics!
To me having any old litature is just good memory...Newsletters, books, pictures and gatherings.
Take a good look at the names on the list and see what was going on then versus today is interesting information.
Also look who is still around and who is gone...may some of them rest in peace!

Just out of curiosity, anyone know who the members of the Board of Directors were at that time?

I'm going to guess Mr. Mills was on the board at that time. If I recall correctly, he held three positions in the IKKA simultaneously.

Couple things

No score for this post
June 30 2008, 1:31 PM

First of all when Mr. Parker died many things took place within the IKKA. Several changes were made and many people left. I would guess that those who were no longer members of the IKKA would not be mentioned.

Looking at that I can tell you it probably isn't accurate. They have Rainer Schulte listed as a 4th degree, which is incorrect. He was a 6th degree as he was promoted to 6th by Mr. Parker on March 19, 1989. Not too mention, they misspelled his name (Reiner). If they screwed that up, I am positive there are other problems with it.

There are many mysteries throughout Kenpo, but since I am writing Rainer Schulte's biography I have been trying to pinpoint some fallacies with the help of many seniors.

What names were you looking for? There is probably a reason why they are not on there.

Salute,

Michael Miller, CKF

You know as well as I do that Mr. Pick was a 7th when Mr. Parker died. Keep in mind that I noticed many weird things on there--like Dave Hebler as well, who was also a 7th.

That is why you have to take things like this lightly.

Moreover.
It is not because somebody leaves an organisation that he should lose his rank....

I totally agree. They didn't lose their rank. Whoever did this missed many things. It could have been an honest mistake, but doubtful.

Many names were missing and many ranks were off.

Two 7th paid for

Here is what I really hate, 2 men listed as seventh becasue they paid tons of $$$ - can't do kenpo, but they held really large seminars in my area for Mr. parker. Campos and Izzo - Izzo later sued Speakman for showing them kenpo and several black belts went to train under Speakman and the late Burt Randio

I recall this guy being a jerk to Mr..Speakman over some dumb crap and tried to sue him. I met the guy by accident in New York one year at a convienent store as he was making a **s out of himself while I was in town doing a seminar for Jeff Blay.

I have this actual newsletter sitting in my file cabinet. I can assure you there are inaacuracies in the ranks listing.

Someone,I think Josh picked up on that it was printed after Mr. Parker's passing and it was. It is dated September of 1991. Mrs. Parker by then had dissolved the old board of Directors seen on so many IKKA certificates, this board included Joe Palanzo, and Huk Planas. It is no wonder that they are not listed in the newsletter. Which gives rise to the question of when was the WKKA officially formed?(lord knows I can't remember the exact year, I was sure it was 1991 although that was disputed by Mr. Cogliandro in a previous post some time back)

Anyway...Mike, check the document again, Mr Schulte is listed as a 6th Black along with my instructor Mr. Wedlake. It is interesting that Mr. Pick is only listed as a 4th Black. I also thought, please someone correct me if I am wrong (I know nobody will have a problem doing that..LOL) I thought Dian Tanaka and Dian Hoshiyama were the same person at one time

"Whose "ism's" are those?"

I stand corrected, just pulled out some old WKKA stuff,
the WKKA was formed on February 23, 1991. the original board of directors were -
Joe Palanzo - President
Richard Planas - Exec. Vice President
Frank Trejo - Examiner
Board Members

Dennis Nackord
Tony Cogliandro
Lee Wedlake
Joe Breidenstein
Greg Silva
Manny Reyes

Hope this helps, Tony c
