...has been the catch-phrase the last couple months in meetings gearing up for this event. It typically gets echoed by "it's about the families", referring to the women and children we hope to raise enough funds to benefit.

Some changes:
The deal with the DoubleTree Hotel is off; the price for the Ohana itself is lowered, but does not include hotel. Some big chunk of change was required to begin with, then we got side-swiped with some surprise additions snuck into the contract, and decided that the money they wanted for miscellaneous "service fees" was moneys we would rather have available to provide the ywca and RFKC. We have been chatting with some of the hotels in the area for room discounts, but in terms of an event site, we're SOL. The website has a link to the Sandman Hotel, which is very near the studio, and costs about the same as we were going to get for rooms at the DoubleTree at discount rates.
The website will soon be fitted to recieve donations directly via paypal, but that's still a couple days away. Hopefully, by sundown on Thursday, the site will have all of the components it needs.
We have a great line-up of instructors, and are keeping it about the kenpo and the families, instead of about the hoopla and accomodations; K.I.S.S. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email.
I can be reached for this event at santarosakenpo@yahoo.com, or at 707-478-9870. The event itself will be held at Seika Ryu Martial Arts in Santa Rosa, and in the little green patch next door to it. We'll be doing a Hawaiian style BBQ at the event site on Sat. PM, and will be having a tackiest/loudest Aloha shirt contest; the winner will recieve something equally as shclocky as their shirt.
Be good,
Dave.
