From the book review it seems quite different from what I'm learning.. I didn't see finger techniques, specialized manuevers, or freestyle techniques listed, aside from other differences.. maybe they are grouped or labeled differently?

I have the book. I bought it out of curiosity. It's a book that examines the basic fundamentals of American Kenpo as taught at the Lacerte's Kenpo Karate Academy. He mentions in the book that his instructors were: Jim Gagnon, Tony and Doreen Cogliandro and Skip Hancock.
The book has some pretty good info about the basics of our system. Here is the table of contents:
1. Disclaimer
2. Dedications
3. The Basics of Senior Grandmaster Ed Parker's American Kenpo Karate
4. Kenpo Basics
5. Stances
6. Maneuvers
7. Foot Manuevers
8. Body Manuevers

17. Positional Blocks
18. Vice Like Blocks
19. Specialized Blocks
20. Strikes
21. Methods of Execution
22. Punches
23. Basic Hand, Arm and Head Strikes
24. Hand and Arm Strikes

I haven't read the whole thing, but it is very informative. He goes pretty in depth about each basic. What I like is that he puts the terms, concepts, and principles in bold and the sayings, rules, and techniques in italics. Everything else is written in normal font. In my opinion it's worth the investment.
Hope that helps.

Yes, they are illustrated with drawings. Not the greatest drawings in the world, but they get the job done. I've seen much worse, lol. It is worth the buy. You will at least take something from it. Not to mention, it's a pretty thick book.

This topic has probably come up before but has anyone got any recommendations for good kenpo books? I have the book mentioned here,Mr.Parkers books of course and Mr. Wedlakes books as well as a couple of other ones. I find it difficult to source other books and of course buying off the net is a bit of a punt without being able to flick through it so I would appreciated if anyone knew of anything interesting to check out.
Regards
Darren.

Looks like a nicely presented book and can't blame you for the plug but I'm looking for books with kenpo technical content as opposed to a biography. Thanks though,
Darren.
