Does anybody know what can be used to clean up a fiberglass boat hull before paint. My uncle Ed has a fiberglass boat that he wants to get cleaned up and seaworthy its been sitting on the trailor in his yard since 2002. I got the 70 hp motor fired up a little while ago it still needs some TLC but that I can handle. The glass has black spots on it from sitting and he would like to paint it. The hull appears to be in good shape no holes or anything but dirty as hell. Would asitone clean it? Or is there something that can be used that wont FU the fiberglass and what kind of paint would need to be used? Ive never took on a boat as a project before and havent really screwed with fiberglass other than patching a camper shell. But what the hell a project is a project. And he told me if I get it done I can use it when ever I want.
