On behalf of the Amherstview Jets Executive, we would like to congratulate the Jets’ coaching and management staff on a job well done this season. Going into this year, knowing it was a rebuilding season with 17 new faces joining the team, our expectations were realistic. The staff went out and recruited very well and exceeded our expectations. As well, has setup the team for success in upcoming years.
As well, I would like to thank the overage players for their time with the Jets;
Zach Desousa, joined the Jets in the 2007/08 season, backstop the team in 118 games, made 3728 saves with a .900 SV%. Zach was the go to guy this season, was a leader on and off the ice, and was a fan favorite. He has left a big hole in the lineup for the coaching staff to fill.
Our Captain Matt McLennan, a 4th year Queens Student, joined the team in 2008/09. He played 99 games with the Jets over the course of his playing days and played through many injuries over his career. Matt was the player that would step up and throw that big hit to spark the team, but a true gentleman on and off the ice.
Wade Gordon, a hometown favorite with lots on speed and good hands around the net. He started with the Jets in 2008/09 as a call-up from the Loyalist Midget team and made the lineup the next season. Wade was #2 in scoring on the team this season with 43 points and collected 105 points during his times with the Jets.
Jordan Davison signed with the team last season in late October, what a great find for the team. Jordan played 51 games over the past 2 seasons, was a player that could/would play anywhere on the ice. He played defense, on the wing, and at centre and I believe if we needed him, he would have played goalie too. Jordan added toughest to the Jets lineup and had his teammate’s backs when required. Although was considered to be one of the toughest guys in the league, he only collected 20 minutes in penalties this season. Jordan is the type of character player that every team hates to lose.
I would like to thank all the people that help keep the Jets going, Game Day Volunteers Cheryl Barr, Sadie Gray, MacKenzie Ley, Sherrilynn Platt, Kendra Platt, and Nick Conley. The trainers Todd Conley and Pete Waller, our team management staff Mike Budarick (GM) and Dave Mullins (asst. GM), all who refuse compensation. Your hard work is greatly appreciated by all!
As well, we cannot forget about our sponsors, without them our challenges of icing a team would be huge. We thank; Adam Candon and Reality Source, Steve Collins and Kingston Cogen, Papa Pizzeria, Paul Payne's Funeral Home, James Reid Transportation, Kingston Hyundai, Glen Lasher, SWS Group, Glen Budgen and MultiIdeas, Amherstview Foodland, Noel McCormick of McCormick Excavating, Tata's, Dr. Michael McLennan and Markham Radiologists, John Smith of Brick and Allied Craft Union of Canada, Barr Homes, and Kermit Galloway of Kermit's General Contracting, your continuing support is great appreciated.
A shout out of thanks to all the great fans that supported the team through-out the season, we appreciate your support and hope to see you back next year!
Lastly and most important, to my other fellow executive members that spend 12 months per year working hard to keep the Jets on the ice, Marion Budarick (President), Greg Barr (Director of Hockey Operations), Kim Waller (Treasurer), Marg Lawson (Secretary), Dave Christie (Risk & Safety), Michelle Thompson (Director), and past president Dave Stewart. Without these great people our community would be without Jr hockey.
Thank-you
Don Ley

Totally agree with octane boost. Ammy seemed to get better and better as the season went on. They were definatly a better club at the end of the year than they were at the start. Well done coaches.

Ryan Sharpe will be back next year! Over my time with the Jets, we had not had a coach that worked any harder the Sharpey in recruitng and developing the players.
He is surely a dedicated coach and will eventually move up to higher levels...

A paying customer and I am entitled to my opinion.............. Obviously the Jets management have forgotten that they thought they had a first place team last year, and they must have forgotten about all the players they could have signed but ended up going to Gan.

Sharpe and Robinson shouldn't go anywhere. Sounds like someone has been waiting for the Jets to fail to me.
Sharpe is the most enthusiastic, energetic and knowledgeable coach in the league. This guy lives for his team and spends countless hours making it better. Give it a rest.

Well Crispy, your opinion is your opinion and if it reflects bad about the coaching staff then keep it to yourself, cause you obviously aren't one of the many that know Ryan and Tyler well enough to understand you are wrong. I have been involved with Minor and Junior hockey for over 25 years now and when you meet a good coach that genuinely cares for the kids he coaches that's what matters. I am fortunate enough to call them friends, and the Amherstview Jets Organization is truly lucky to have these folks be part of their team. So next time you open your mouth before thinking, do some research to know what you are talking about.

Might be time to lock this discussion down before it gets nasty?
Suffice to say: Congrats Jets players, coaching staff, admin (and fans) on a solid entertaining season, and to taking the eventual Empire B Jr C Champs Campbellford to a Game 7 in a year considered 'rebuilding' where a large portion of the Jet's team were rookies - well done!!! Bodes well for next year!
All the best to the departing Jets; good luck in all that you aspire to.
