External influences for ispiration

Now I do not know about anyone else, but I like to have my oil burner burning when I write. I try to get a blend of oils that enhance the creative processes of my brain. A creative stimulant type of thing.
I also have crystals that I like to have near me, or sometimes touch stones that also enhance my thought processes.
One of my favorites is flourite, which is meant to be good for greater concentration, bringing direction and order and advancement of the mind...:) well I do need all the help I can get!
There are heaps of crystals that channel great energies for you to use.
Just an idea, but it works for me!

Hey Deb,

What sort of Crystals do you use?I just have these spurts where I'll write and write or not at all!
I haven't found a place for me to sit and write and not be disturbed!!Bummer!

a place of your own

A place of my own??? What is that??? LOL! Having five children I do not have a little place of my own to write in, all available nooks and crannies are taken in my house. But I do try to make the place I find to write in - and it varies from day to day - as inspiring as I can. I burn my oil burner as I said in my previous post. I have two clear quartz crystal terminators near me. I have some flourite crystals, a lovely piece of ametrine and what ever I feel attracted to at the time. Lapis, citrine, apopholyte etc.
I have ornaments of dragons and wizards, fantastical pictures I like to gaze upon. Pictures I have stumbled across on the internet often match some of the characters I have dreamt up. So I save them and look upon them as inspiration as well.
When you don't have a special writing nook you have to make the best you can of the bit you have.

Deb, the mere fact that you manage to write every day with five children is inspirational to me! I do have a corner to myself and one day hope to have a room to myself. Still, I have the whole house to myself during school days so I don't necessarily need a room with a door on it. I burn incense sometimes but rarely play music. I find silence works best for me. Candles in the wet weather are atmospheric too.

I look for different ways of inspiration...listening to the rain, sitting outside in the sunshine, playing with my cats, riding horses, playing instruments, but if nothing works for me, i just listen to Delerium (mainly Karma and Poem CD's) 'cos their music rocks...

little welcome

Welcome Corinna. You ride horses? You and Timna will have a lot in common then. And you own cats! I am so envious. I love cats but alas my husband does not. Still, my daughter assures me that she will have at least ten and when she's grown up and moved out I can come and have 'sleep-overs' with a cat on the end of my bed. Bliss...

I have noticed that most writers own at least one cat! Maybe I should run out and buy one, it might be the final piece to the jig-saw of writing sucessfully...:)

Hope that isn't bad luck!!

well, my 2 cats are my babies...useful too, when i've lost something and my cats are around, the younger one (also my fav! *hugglesquishes Rascal*) gives mi a pathetic look and walks away - so happens always next to or near the place i left the missing item...*lol* or i might just be going crazy...

cats

Hearing you guys talking about cats makes me REALLY want to have one. My cousin has a pretend cat that that looks remarkable real and it even purrs if you pat it, but it freaks me out a bit, like ventriloquist dolls do. I have a computer cat, felix, who lurks around my screensaver watching TV and swatting flies. Poor substitute I know.

You guys who have cats, make sure you appreciate them!
