I've finished my exams

November 12 2002 at 11:11 PM

I've completed my last exam yesterday!! It was Australian history and I was so surprised at how much I knew... I think I actually did OK in this exam!
The fact that I've actually finished, that I have no homework or SACs to study for still has not hit me. Well, actually the fact that I had those exams didn't really hit me. I mean, for my English exam I didn't feel as though I was doing an exam. It was a very weird feeling because I usually stress and worry so much... I had six exams and after each I was totally drained from all the studying and the writing quickly.
Now I can finally get back to my writing, reading LotR, Harry Potter, 'Daughter of the Dark', 'Stone of the Tears'... there's so much that I can do now!! It's so cool. But I am also so dreading December when our ENTERs are sent out to us I'm trying not to think about that at the moment.
Unfortunately, there are some of my friends who are still doing exams so we can not go out and celebrate. My group of friends had organised to go to Apollo Bay for five days for schoolies and I really wanted to go but I wasn't allowed.
So how is everyone? What's been happening since I was last here?

It is a great feeling to know you're finished! I just completed a busy year at uni and it was a relief when that final exam was over! Yet I find myself going crazy this past week and a half since I've been on holidays, because the writing just doesnt seem to want to work the way I want it! So instead I spend all day staring at my comp waiting for that burst of inspiration! When you've got the time, it just doesnt seem to want to go to plan. If i had no time, I would have so much to type right now :-S

I also have finished my exams, it's an incredible feeling to be sure!

Yay for you Uni guys!

Congrats to you all for finally getting through another year of school!

Holly, maybe instead of sitting down and forcing yourself to come up with something utterly brilliant, you should go out and spoil yourself, do some fun things and re-zapp that creative well of yours.
Sometimes indulging the artist/writer within can also give you a dash of solid creative inspiration.

Go to the fairy shop and buy a glitzy wand, go have a picnic under a wonderful old tree and absorb its energy, go to Dream world and scare yourself silly on all the rides....
It doesn't matter what you do as long as it is something you really enjoy. You will be surprised at how inspired you feel after indulging that inner child...

Make your desk somwhere fun, somewhere you just love to come and sit. Mine has crystals both above and on it, a plastic tiara, a garland (Alyson you sweetie). I have a nasty warrior with a battle axe now, who oversees my writing. I have to write or he may swing that axe and take my fingers off!!!!
I have other things too, but that was just a few things that make me happy.

Well my only desk is an extremely cluttered computer desk, but it has got some nice things amoungst all the junk... like a pair of little teddy bears and a photo of my boyfriend and I on top of my monitor. but then i also have a pair of massive speakers sitting right on top of the comp desk so if i really cant spark that creativity at least i can blast my eardrums with some music! lol but thankfully the creative burst has finally arrived, after almost 2 weeks of holidays. I'm once again back in the swing of things and it feels great!

Your desk is an inspiration Deb! I cleaned mine off before my hols and should use that as a way to give it a refresh. But already there is a new pile of papers and cold coffee. Why fight it!! Though my new pile of Tassie river stones look gorgeous. I have added the words to Mack the Knife on my standy uppy folder, a gorgeous Jack Vettriano card. Both for some reason are great inpiration.

I have given myself blonde streaks! I love it but haven't gone out in public with it yet so we'll see! I like to bring in summer with a spring clean of my house, my papers and myself!

You guys who have finished exams must be feeling soooo high! Treat yourselves to a new book or a movie or a haircut or a big box of choccies! It's always nice to get yourself something nice in celebration!

Hope you all have wonderful creative happy holidays!

Just wanted to add my congratulations to all the "students" who've survived another year.  Way to go guys.  And don't stress.  When you've come out of the fog and smelt the roses for a while, the inspiration will flow

I recieved a letter from the University of New England in Armidale on Monday to tell me that I had been accepted into their Bach of psychology with honors course through distance education. After two years of courses that were not my first choice, I have finally been offered the most ideal course I could imagine, but my parents hate the idea of distance education. Yet its a not until January do i get my QTAC results back, so I'll enrol into this course, as the closing date is the end of this month, but if i get a better offer in January, preferably an on campus brisbane course, then i'll cancel my enrollment in that course. I could definately do it, only I know how tricky statistics are in psych as i struggled with them last year in the course I did, so id prefer to do it on campus. But if feels good to be getting offers already.

Way to go Holly! I would definitely enrol if it sounds like an ideal course. Give yourself options, a foot in the door. Do let us know how our results go in January. Fingers crossed all your dreams come true.

Thanks Alyson

I'll be sure to post a msg about my overall QTAC results. It feels good to finally be on track. Both with my psychology and my writing.

Holly, I study a computing degree through Curtin University of Technology in Perth, via distance education and find it a hell of a lot easier than attending uni locally.

Congratulations from me too, Holly.  It's lovely to have options, and psychology is such a great area for a writer to be interested in.

Hey everyone,

Kate, I studied psych through distance ed last year. Although I'm a very motivated person and work better on my own than part of a group such as that of my uni classes, I struggled really bad with one section of the psych. A section that gets harder every year : Statistics. Thankfully I have a friend who has just finished her bach of psych this year, so she can help me, yet she isnt that great with statistics either and is starting to reconsider her idea to study at a distance to do her honors for that reason. Other than that one section it would be ideal for me. I am a self learner. I cant be taught half as well as i can teach myself. So thankfully I'm on of those lucky people that can actually do well at distance ed, but my parents hate the idea. Typical! Ahh well, I'll check out my other options in January and keep everyone posted as to what i decide. Either way its gonna be psych!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement

Holly xx
