Conflux

Hiya,
Is anyone planning on going to the Conflux festival in Canberra in April?
I'll be going, but will be looking to share some accommodation somewhere...You know us poor uni students!
I'll be coming up from Wagga, so i'll be paying accommodation back there for the few nights - only two or three nights in Canberra needed. Please email me, and sorry, female only!

I'm not looking to share, Timna, sorry, but I'll look forward to seeing you there, and will let you know if I hear of anyone who is wanting to share.  Have you thought about writing to the organisers to ask them if they have a list of people who need to share.  I've also heard that you need to book shortly as it's the Anzac weekend and Canberra fills up with people coming in for the War Memorial services.  Good luck with it.

Looks like i may have a bed at a friends house in any case, but i'm not too sure about my driving and navigating through the streets of Canberra. Guess i'll work it out. Perhaps i'll see you there Louise, either from a distant or not!
Looking forward to days two and three. That seems like the best of the lot!

I was going to Conflux but have double booked myself that weekend and will be sitting at the Gabba watching the Hawks get thumped by Brisbane instead. I was really looking forward to it as well...

If you are still struggling for accom, try some of those last minute sites like www.wotif.com.au. They generally have some great rates.

Sorry I've been a bit absent from the site, guys, but I've been incredibly busy lately.  Flying off to chilly Canberra tomorrow morning for Conflux and looking forward to catching up with anyone who can make it.  I'll be on a few panels, doing a book signing and generally chatting and drinking heaps of coffee!  So if you see me there, please come up and say hello

That means you, Timna!

Thylacon next year

Sorry it's taken me a week to file this report but I was SO tired when I got home.  Conflux was completely exhausting - three hours sleep one night and four the next - but I packed in heaps of meeting/talking/eating/coffee so it's all good.  Caught up with some of the EnVision attendees from last year and sat on a panel to promote EnVision 2004, which was lovely (was actually racing back from the National Gallery and arrived five minutes before it was due to start - much to the chair's consernation - but I made it!)  Also sat on the "Fantasy Queens" panel (which wasn't about the Sydney Mardi Gras) and chaired the "Romancing the Genre" panel which we had a lot of fun with.  I managed to sneak out to the Anzac Day Dawn Service with some other early risers and that was just extraordinary - very moving.  Other highlights were the dinners both nights which were loud and fun, and the lovely relaxing coffee and debrief after the Anzac Dawn Service - very reviving.  There are a few photos in my diary if you want a squiz.
