Cafe Muse Short Stories

March 18 2005 at 10:49 AM

-
Well, i just though i'd ask how everyone is going with their stories for the group. I have so far seen 3 (plus my own) and given feedback to my ability.
Are there any more out there?
Email me if so, but please use a subject titled Cafe Muse, or it might get ditched accidently.
Dreams to be...

What is and where do I find?

November 12 2005, 4:33 PM

Tell me more about Cafe Muse, please.

Timna

Yay

November 13 2005, 7:04 PM

I will expect it soon then, and your timing is great, as my exams are over on Wednesday. I'll be free to write fantasy, ratehr than pure science!

Catrin, The Cafe Muse is a short story project, that any one can write for if they apart of this forum. I will have to dig back through the forum messages to find the details, as its been awhile since it was planned, and is based on the silliness of us 'Musers' pretending we were in a cafe while we chatted here. Our imaginations ran wild and here we still are today, writing, and creating stories around it. I will try to find it soon, but not till after Wednesday i'm afraid. Stay tuned!

Cafe Muse Project

November 18 2005, 7:47 PM

Catrin - and others - heres what i could find on the forum with a few other details. Anyone please add, as ive forgotten some of it that we discussed in a chat session.

Cafe Muse story is...
When we first started meeting in a chat room we let our imaginations run ramp! The waiter we invented was a hot topic for a while there, and so after awhile of flirting and too much coffee, the brains of Project Muse (us chatters), thought a great way to develop our writing skills is to write a short story incoroparting the waiter and cafe. So we all brain storm each of our stories.

It has to be under 6000 (most are 2000-3000). The waiter is based on a character in the movie The Mummy - what was his name - the 'guard' with the tattoos on his face, long hair - a mysterious man. The cafe also has to be mentioned somewhere in the story. Many stories ive read have only been mentioning the story, but a few are centred around it. Its really up to you.

I think thats all there was - Anyone else?

We dream that one day these stories will be brought together in one volume, published or self published. Its really just a writing exercise. A fun one at that!

I've done my story! And that actor from "Mummy" was scrumptious. What was his name...? Anyway, if we find a link to a photo (of the actor) we'll past it here so you can get the idea of this super mysterious and creative little den of a cafe with a gorgeously mysterious waiter. Just the thing to spark your imagination!

Hey all,

I have doing a rewrite on my list of things to do. I've been held down with both b/friend and child home with illness - geez it cramps your style - people in the house.

Aiden is getting better - but not without over a week of school & antibiotics (very rare for him). Dumb middle ears and what not.

Now if I can just get the b/friend back to work .....

Writing here I come -seems to be a writing Xmas season - bah to all those who want pressies lol.

Timna I'm even contemplating trying two ways one from his and one from hers..... :o Now that I've scared myself I'm going off for lunch.

the scrummy man himself.

November 23 2005, 12:42 PM

Okay, I've found our waiter. The actor was Oded Fehr and a link to his CV is here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004912/ with a very nice photo of him. Plenty to get the imagination stirring.

Thats it Lou, great link. What do you think Catrin?

Catrin

Oh yeh!

November 28 2005, 10:01 AM

Only just don't tell DH I said that! Please.

Got it all worked out in my head. Had a little story for ages but not the setting in which to tell it. Cafe Muse & our man is perfect.

Just go 3 more days of Nano, 3000 words to go. and I can write something else as well.

Nano won't be finished, the book, just the 50k words. But it won't hae a deadline. 'cept I might set another deadline, 'cause I've been getting heaps written. Just not so tight.

Come end of Dec I chould have Cafe Muse written.

Thats great

February 4 2006, 3:45 PM

Thats great to hear Nancy. Im always worried that people will take my comments the wrong way - as I know how editing marks can be dishearting at times (and i have lecturers breathing down my neck).
Do not fear Catrin - Im working on yours at the moment. Will be in touch.

Catrin

No probs

February 6 2006, 12:29 PM

No problems Timna, I figured you hadn't forgotten me.

I am waiting with baited breath to see what notes you make, but don't hurry, or worry about what I'll think. I prefer honesty to no informations. How else are we going to learn.

Thanks

Louise

Give us a "T" !

February 7 2006, 2:14 PM

Timna, you are doing a sterling job!  Thank you so much for stepping in and helping everyone with their stories.  The girls are right, you don't learn unless someone points out a better way to do things.  It's just lovely that you volunteer your time to do that.

Very much appreciated
