Sunday Night Chats???

September 24 2005 at 10:46 PM

Lou, and all the other readers of the forum, have been thinking we need to re-establish the sunday night chat - unless it has already been done, and i'm alittle slow.
What do people think? Can they spend an hour or so online sunday night. I remember how much fun we had - it was such a boost to chat to the other forum goers about the latest books and their own work. Think it would nice to get all the new faces out more. Post here your thoughts.

Sunday night chats

September 24 2005, 11:15 PM

I'd love to - I can't every Sunday, but I'd like to chat with others. About 9pm (after kids go to bad) is best for me, but can do earlier.

I also find the 7pm timeframe a bit too early. If I'm home (one Sunday a month I'm not) at that time I'm still usually contending with dinner, baths and bedtime for J and X, and then it gets to about 9pm and I think, 'Oh no! I missed Sunday chat again!'

Timna, that's a great idea, for me as much as anyone else Writing is a pretty solitary life so it's great to talk "shop" with other writers, and having a regular forum where you don't even need to leave home sounds great! Every second Sunday night will be problematic for me, but I'll do my best.

I can see that leaving it later would probably suit most, but alas I'm usually asleep by 9 or 10pm (or I don't get up early enough the next morning!) so what if we compromise and try for 8pm?

Im fine - anytime - no children to hold me away (touch wood). Just as long as i remember. I'll email Ally to let her know. Can you contact Deb Lou? Havent seen her around these parts in a while.
See you this coming Sunday then 8pm. i'm sure for those who cant get to the 8pm, that we'll be around at least by 9. It's amazing how quickly time flies chatting.

I'll change the settings on the board here and email Deb. Afraid this is the Sunday night that's problematical for me, so not sure if I'll make it, but am reasonably sure you can count of me for the following week. Fingers crossed.

This Sunday

September 29 2005, 6:18 PM

I can't wait for Sunday night chats. Be great to chat with poeple who write and understand the obsession and the fact that the characters live outside of me, I just write about them.

But I can't do this Sunday - Grand Final night. DH's family are Sydney siders, even if they all live up in sunny Qld. So we will be at a BBQ whatching the game. Mind you I think they have a computer there with internet? Maybe I can sneak on. I'll take the site address with me just in case!

Have fun and I'll see you next Sunday.

Sorry I missed everyone on Sunday night.  I arrived back just before nine and the chatroom was empty!  So I missed the party.  but I'm hoping to be home this Sunday, so I'm thinking a pyjama party sounds like a good idea.

How did it go? I was out celebrating The End and didn't get back in time (sigh) but I was hoping you guys were having an F.A.B. pyjama party in my absence.

sun nights????

October 19 2005, 1:09 PM

Catrin and I continue our chats alone. Would it be better chatting on a different night, different time? Even though Catrin and I are talking about everything important to us, I think we'd both like to see some other chatters for more opinions. What do you guys reckon?

Tonight

October 23 2005, 11:28 AM

Hey Timna,

I'm planning on getting there tonight I've had computer hassles til essentially this week (the first in months without being cut off/even having a computer). Plus I'm in the boat of child swap every second Sunday - which makes more for unreliability of me getting here in time (as in time he arrives can vary somewhat).

So, I'm happy with Sundays, but if others have other days - throw them up and see what lands.

Sundays are as good a night as any for me, Timna. I'm hoping to be there tonight, but I have a family member in hospital at the mo so might get caught up with that. But hopefully I'll be there tonight. Fingers crossed!

Hey guys!

I popped in the night after you emailed me Timna, but I went on at 7pm as I hadn't read this message. Do'h! I'm afraid that Australian Idol is my life and there ain't nothing to pull me away from that on a Sunday night - dinner, conversation, apocolypse... But in a month or so I ought to be fine for a natter!

October 27 2005, 9:52 PM

Sorry Ally for the confusion. Last sunday night was the biggest we have had. Hope you can make it sometime. Im luck as my computer is now hooked up to my room, so i have the tv and internet side by side, so, not being an Idol fan this year, I can surf the teley and net! Try again though Ally!

Yesterday

October 31 2005, 10:51 AM

Hey everyone,

Sorry I couldn't get there last night. Aiden had yet another music concert (I tell you that child has had more performances than I care to remember this month - think it's hovering around 8......). Plus we had instrument drama (because well where would performance be without some drama *lol*).

So, by the time we got home, settled down etc etc it was past 9ish - I lost track but realised I missed the track when I saw the clock (was after 10.30pm) and made the amazing discovery it was Sunday!

Hopefully there next week - though he has two concerts - but they are Fri & Mon around it - so I should managed some 'me' time on Sunday

Nicky

Time frame???

October 31 2005, 2:11 PM

I hoped on last night and none came. I felt deserted for about 30 minutes then realised that daylight savings started on Saturday. So I was on at 8pm stupid time, others might have been on at 8pm sensible time!
I didn;t feel so bad then.

So next Sunday, do we chat at 8pm Qld time (9pm NSW time) or 7pm Qld time (8pm NSW time)?

Catrin

sunday night

October 31 2005, 3:32 PM

I am not fussed either night is fine, so i'll fit in with everyone else. I thought it may be a problem, but didnt know until sunday morning that daylight savings had started for me - so didnt have a chance to post a message. Ohwell, next week then.

Timna, I think 7pm Qld time and 8pm Daylight saving time is a good place to start. If anyone finds that difficult we can adjust it.

The Chats

November 28 2005, 12:25 PM

Have been noting not many of the sunday nights chats are being used (Im there talking to myself)- so have thought we could make it every second sunday night?
What do you think?

Catrin

Sorry

November 28 2005, 3:36 PM

Sorry, Tina. I've been working the past few weekends, and the next few. Down in Melb, not getting home until 9pm (Qld time)

Meant to let you know so you didn;t think I was deserting you.

I'm not working this weekend (but am the next two) So I will endeavour to make it.

I'm hoping to be on this Sunday, too, Timna. Did you want to pick a topic to discuss? That way we can all bring any info we know or have researched along and share it.

Topic?

December 2 2005, 12:51 PM

How bout the throws of editing in light of the Cafe Muse project & Book in a Year project! Let wrap up the year with these areas.

Louise

editing?

December 2 2005, 7:14 PM

Catrin mentioned on another thread that she'd like to talk about editing, Timna, so that sounds great for Sunday. It's one thing to write draft (and typing The End should certainly be celebrated) but that's just half the job! I think it's a fab idea to talk about editing and any probs anyone has with it.

Look forward to seeing you all there at 7pm Brisbane time.

Re: Sunday Night Chats???

December 5 2005, 5:17 PM

Call me Miss Unreliability. I had a post it note on my fridge too! (I'm there every half hour, so you'd think I'd have seen it). Afraid I'm in the early "I'm in love with my story" phase of developing Beauty & Mr Beast. So all I think about is the fabulous characters I've created and all the fascinating things they're capable of -- lying in bed, driving the car, eating breakfast. They're with me all the time. I'm sure it will settle sooner or later

So sorry I missed the chat. HOpe you guys got lots of editing sorted out.

Not tomorrow night

December 10 2005, 10:16 PM

I'm unlikly to be on Chat tomorrow night. I won't get home from melb until 10pm, after being up since 4am.

So I'll see you next week

We keep going

December 16 2005, 8:32 AM

Sorry we lost you last sunday Lou. Hope your PC is now behaving.
I thought Id post here another topic for this Sunday night - how about our plans for next year's Book in a Year Project?
Get your brain storming.... I've been inspired this week with yet another story idea - will i ever get one of my now 8 stories published is a mystery, but at least i can enjoy my wild creations.

Hi,

I'm going to try my hardest to be there. Life has been beyond hectic, with plans being waylaid almost as soon as I make them.

Will have a think about the project for next year. Post Conjure my highest priority (after Ai) is writing. No committees will be joined

See you Sunday.

Thanks for keeping the chatroom rolling, Timna. It's particularly helpful for writers to know that if they've got a problem, there's someone to talk to who can share it and offer advice.

Timna

keep on moving

December 21 2005, 7:08 PM

Thanks Lou. I think its the best way we can all help each other, with writing or not as its been the case this year! Lets keep it going guys next year ---
