I have been accepted into their stable of childens writers. I have an agent Yay!!!!
They said the manuscript has commerical potential and once polished it can be easily sold. I have some work to do and they said I have to have it critquied of course I have to pay a small fee(only $60 to 70) and they charge no fees until the book is sold which is the normal 10%. They are willing to help me improve it to publishing standard.
I am so wrapped at the moment. So does this mean guys I am on my way?
I have been feeling very low about writing in the past few months. Even though I have been still writing it hasn't felt like I was getting anywhere.
Nancy CONGRATULATIONS!
From my point of view you are definately a step further on your way!
I'm just so happy for you - best of luck with the publication!

Go Nancy! Well done. Who's your agent? They are North American are they not? Do you know any other children's authors they have sold recently? This is all too exciting!

I'm sorry they turned out to be less than reliable too, Nancy. But I guess we can be really grateful that we have the Internet as a resource and are able to learn from other people's mistakes (and be doubly grateful that they're helpful enough to post that sort of information to warn others).
So BE warned guys. If you're thinking of signing up with anyone, do a quick google search of their name to see if they turn up anywhere with black marks against them. Having said that, you have to be aware of malicious slandering. So check that the sources are reliable. Usually organisations (like Romance Writers of America for romance writers) will have lists on their websites of reputable agents to try.

Nancy, that is terrible news, but lucky you did have someone (aka Lousie) looking out for you. Dont worry, im sure your book will find a agent/publisher if you keep at it. (Re: our conversation Sunday night chat).

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear that. Though when you said they wanted you to pay for a critique it set off alarm bells in my head. I even wrote a post wondering about that then deleted it as I didn't want to rain on your wonderful parade.
Better luck next time! And thank goodness for google!!!

Hey Thanks a lot, but please don't worry as today I am rearing to go. I have someone in SA interested in having a look after Christmas so I will let you all know.
Trust you Timna for puting a smile on my face LOL. Humm to wollow in my sorrows Should I start expanding Cafe Muse??? Humm have to think about that one.
Had a beautiful email from my friend Simon Gallaher who said to keep going as he couldn't wait until I was the J.K. Rowling. He has only read a few passages to help me with the musical part for one of the characters. Gosh talk about boosting the confidence. LOL

Thats it heads up! Start thinking about Cafe Muse as a novel - I think it would be a brillant challange to turn a short story into a masterpiece!
Last exam tomorrow - then im in the writing and reading! I have a whole year to catch up on!
