me too

Thanks for that Catrin.  Happy New Year to everyone from me as well.  And can I ask you all to make a new year's resolution re your writing careers?  Let's ante up folks, and put our aspirations down in writing for the big wide world to see.  There's nothing quite like making a commitment for getting you past procrastination

My New Year's resolution for 2006 is simply to write every day.  Because I know if I can do that, even for just a half an hour, I'll be able to keep in touch with my story and won't have all the dramas I had this year getting estranged from it.  I know that keeping my passion for the story hot will make the rest of the work fall into place.

Goals for 2006

January 2 2006, 10:32 AM

I don't usually set goals or resolutions but this year I have. Not just writing ones.

My main three are;
- To write, edit, polish my books. Of my first at least 3 chapters a month. Of my Nano, to work on in conjucntion with an online course I've heard of and joined. It's two years long, but hey Rome wasn't built in a day.
- To regain my craft/scrapping space again and return to do some more, particularly scrapping (journaling your photos and history)
- To lose weight. to get my fitness and flexability back. I figure if I can write 50k words in a month, for Nano, I can do anything. Besides I'm now spending more time sitting, so I need to compensate.

So now they are out. And it's up to you folks to keep me honest.

Well done, Catrin!  I'll keep you honest   I've got some personal goals re fitness this year too, and they're quite belated but I guess it's never too late.  Writing is such a sedentary job and if you're not the type that whacks on weight you can put the whole fitness thing on the back-burner (which I have done).  But I'd like to be more of a Sporty Spice than I have been, so it's time to get off my bum and do something about it!

Happy New Year everyone. I'm not necessary setting goals now per se, rather I'm more going the direction of continuing the things I began during December.

A big one for me is my health and getting it under control, my December reviews where finally getting positive but still limited with ongoing reviews til roughly October 2006. This area also means continuing the 4/week swimming I've been doing.

But the big writing one for me is to actually get discipline with myself and stop seeing it as a luxury or something of a treat when I've got all else under control.

So the QWC workshop I'm in will give me deadlines plus coming here should make sure I get at least the first draft completed (especially since I've hit a block with a need to rewrite everything I've done so far - plot/planning wise it's apparent). Plus I'd like to put on paper/computer somewhere plots/storylines for some other ideas that have been floating in my head.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing ease into the 2006 (I was so over the rollercoaster of 2005 by December 31).

I am all about the health resolutions this year as well. This job can make one hm-mmm put on a little weight very easily! And working at th computer for hours puts strain on back, neck, fingers and other bits. So it pays to look after yourself!

With an excerise bike and a yoga DVD as Chrissy presents I am on my way!!!

Oh and I hope to write 3 books this year, selling all of course.

Good luck to everyone, I hope we can all achieve that which we desire.

Finish my book - make changes, edit & polish

Have my book - and me - accepted by a literary agent

Have my book published

Go back to researching my script (what the book started from) and get a first draft completed.

Get a job (lost mine late last year) that uses my skills and is only part-time.

Sk.

as for me...

February 4 2006, 3:58 PM

Well - writing life is as such: Get a book sent out into the big wide publishing world and see how she fairs. With four stories on the backburner (half complete) Im set to finish at least one ready for the market. (Mind you, I have written two books complete, but i want to get the third volume down before I draft a proposal, as I have no idea where its going).
As for life in general, I have no other plans but do as ive always planned. I have to finish up my post grad studies (get to graduate in april from undergrad course) and then I have to send all my applications out for vet science once again. Oh, and how can I forget to ride Hui this year - he'll be old enough (for all new people, Hui's a horse I bred).
Cant wait for this year. I know it's going to be special! My mantra is if Im not happy, change my life. Gotta love inspiration! Go Team Muse!

Timna, you've done so much since we first met! Can't wait for the opporunity to purchase your trilogy and get it personally signed

And lovely to see your goals, Skaldi. If you don't write them down, they don't motivate as well, I always think. And having other people see what you're doing creates some lovely expectation and positive energy, which is never a bad thing either!
