Response to the FF, FR, 4WD arguement |

this is insane.... ive never heard such bull. ive owned all the fore mentioned kinds of cars. this is how it goes.
FWD-doesnt drift. how to tell? can you take an entire highway off ramp side ways? nope. your rear will grip about half way through it. besides... how can you break the rear end loose with out an ebrake? you cant. you have to use it. and you have to use it for the entire turn to make sure its always breaking traction.
RWD-you can drift almost any RWD for a few reason. i use almost beacause i wouldnt recomend drifting an RV. RWD cars are able to use throttle control to keep the rear traction to a minimum this is one of the essentials of drifitng. now... you must have an LSD or atleast a welded rear diff to make sure your actually loosing traction to both wheel and not just letting your inside tire spin. an ebrake can be used but its only used to INITIATE a drift.
4WD- these are tricky. stock... id say that almost no 4WD can drift UNLESS the weather permits it too. like if its wet out or on dirt or gravel or snow then you can dift but its really scary!!! ive done it a bunch and i feel like crapping everytime! its fast and almost seems uncontrolled. witht hat said that why its borderline not drifting. the lack of control makes it a slide and not a drift. on dry pavement however the 4WD would have to be highly modified strictly for drifting because it would want to understeer instead of oversteering to initiate the drift.
so when it comes down to it... RWD is almost the only car that can drift... of course there are circumstances that can let other kinds of cars do this too... but for FRW plastic fast food trays under the rear tires while the ebrake is one is the closed to a REAL drift itll ever come to. | |
