| heres my playlist hoorah:
The Transplants - ahh you have got to hear these guys, timmy armstong from op ivy/rancid fame, travis from blink 182, and some other dude with an awesome voice playing a really experimental cross between punk, dub, dance music & hiphop, gets my vote for top album of 2002 alongside dillinger fours situationist comedy.
Capdown
Dance Floor Justice

its good to see he's not wasting his tallent in some shitty post-pop-punk band... well ok, he's still wasting his tallent in a shitty post-pop-punk band, but atleast he's getting some redemtion by playing in something good (again).

I've downloaded most of their album, there seem to be a few songs floating around on winMX that aren't actually Transplants songs... or else they are very early songs that sound weird.
anyway... what i think...
Its fucking Great!
its like oi meets rap.
without backwards hats and cream pants.
its punk on sample loops!
i agree with burgs, this Rob "SR" Aston guy had a great voice. The lyrics are a bit cliché'd at times though, for example in 'we trusted you' the chorus "we trusted you, we put out a helping hand. only in return, we get a stabbing in the back", i don't think i could sing those lyrics with a straight face.
and on 'tall cans in the air' the chorus "tall cans in the air, let me see 'em, fuck you!" ... bit of cliché... its a great song other than that... with a great twangy bass line.
Travis does some drumming reminiscent of his Baron Von Titto days. working that hi-hat with 16ths. His talent is chronically wasted is Blink 182.
I don't know if i'd rate this as my "best album of 2002", I think give it a couple of months and see if you still like it, The album has some flaws, so i don't know if it will achieve "Cult Status"... but like i said, time will tell.
the other thing that's interesting...
How are they going to play live?
Epitaph's website lists the band as being: "Rob "SR" Aston - Vocals, Tim Armstrong - Vocals, Guitar, Travis Barker - Drums "
who's going to play bass?
who's going to play keys?
apparently Tim did it all on the recording, will they get people to play with them live?
or will they run samples?
its interesting.....
peace&unity
