What will replace TradeStation 2000i?

November 5 2001 at 6:25 PM

It seems that since TradeStation has almost entirely abandoned 2000i, system traders are looking for alternatives. Are there any suggestions for what can be used next. Can anyone share what they are doing now?

What about MetaStock?

November 5 2001, 11:44 PM

Some traders are using MetaStock but I don't know how the two systems compare. Actually I would prefer to create a stand alone system using a conventional computer language such as Visual Basic. Has anyone been creating their own systems with VB?

TS alternative

November 7 2001, 8:39 AM

With TS fading out support and development I did also make up my mind on alternatives. What I think might be a nice product to move to is Tickquest's Neoticker.

With TS losing it's standard status you have to stay flexible to aviod reprogramming all the indicators and systems you developed with a certain program. Since Neoticker uses VB Script,Delphi or Java you can code all your stuff in a common language and there should be not so much difficulties using these if you want to change the trading platform again (especially when your doing your hard coding work using activeX).

Neoticker is not yet a final solution (e.g. optimization feature is still missing - but scheduled for the short term) but the guys put a lot of effort in enhancing the product and are very responsive to customers suggestions. In my opinion it's reasonably priced as well.
If you're trading us products there are plenty of data feeds to choose from for you (one of my biggest problem as a european based trader is finding a data feed offering european products).

Maybe you should check it out by yourself (www.tickquest.com).

Best Regards,

Michael

BTW: No affiliation with the company - just a happy customer.

TS2K Replacement

November 7 2001, 7:43 PM

That happens to be an easy answer.

For $100 per month you get TS6 and on demand data.

It is wonderful and TS6 has a lot of the TS2K problems
solved.

There may be something better down the road somewhere
but for right now there is not.

I started with it when it was TSPro and gave up twice.
First because they did not have futures when they said
they would and then second because there were too many
problems with the display of exotic indicators.

Now, other than some slowness in starting up, it is
a wonderful environment.

No I do now work for and never have worked for and
have a healthy dislike for BC because of some
business some years ago but this is now the place
to be.

Replace Tradestation with Ensign

Ensign included EOD data and is only $39 a month Not $100 a month like TS6.

Amibroker

Check out Amibroker.com
Still pretty much under construction (especially the RT version), but getting more and more usable. Each two months an upgrade with great improvements.

At a price anyone can afford.

Ami Broker for sure

I own several Versions of MetaStock and while the only attachment I like for that platform is their "TradeSim" attachement by Paritech, I really like amibroker and think that it definately delivers.....

Happy Trading
