After a chance encounter in HK with Chen Daoming 2 years ago, Anita was won over by his "majestic air and eloquent speech". Thus, she had always hope to work with him. Now that her wish has come true, she seems fearful of Chen. She said that her limbs would go numb when she sees him. Chen is her secret admirer in "River Flowing East". (dat's cool!)
Anita said that although her character is almost the same as the movie version's, a lot of additional work needs to be done in terms of her performance. She said she wasn't trying to "outdo or challenge" veteran acctress Bai Yang (who played her role in the movie) but to "challenge herself" only. Anita admits that she doesn't fully understand the war-torn, Shanghai in the 1930s. Hence, the director has been giving her "extra classes" almost everyday, explaining the living conditions of that period to her. She is also working hard on her eye expression, so that is's not "so piercing". It's very tiring for her to play this role -not physically, but emotionally draining because of her tragic character and all the crying. (poor, lenlen! take care & all the best! u can do it, anita!)
