Had called Anita's HK manager to send birthday wishes. But I only got as far as the manager's assistant...sigh! maybe I shd hv said I was calling from Mr Chang Long Jong's office, MediaCorp Studios. (Mr Chang Long Jong is the CEO of MediaCorp Studios, S'pore's main TV station. Yeh, the one which co-produces "Innocently Guilty".) Hahaha! Yeh, you know, all those tricks on 'how-to-get-pass-the-secretary'....
Anyway, she told me she was "Sai Kat" (It means "Little Kat" in Cantonese. HK people has such cute names.), the manager's assistant. Apparently, the manager was busy preparing for a business trip. She thanked me profusely for the thought and for 'loving Anita so much.' She assured me that she'll pass the message to Anita.
Next, she went on tell me briefly about Anita's present condition. (Actually nothing that we don't already know from the media reports. Frankly, I had wanted to cut the conversation short at this point but it seemed rude to do so.) That she has completed filming and was preparing for her delivery in November.
Sai Kat was friendly and chatty. She came across as sincere and professional. I would say she did a brilliant PR job as well as a good job in screening off calls for her boss. I wouldn't mind having such an assistant too...haha! No, I'm not cynical nor disillusioned. I'm just in a very "Get Real!" kind of mode. I'm under no illusions abt anything. So, yes, let's give her the benefit of the doubt and hope that she'll pass on the birthday wishes to Anita herself.
