oh, the guy and anita fall in love. i don't remember why that guy is blind? but they are together for a while after they survive the earthquake in taiwan. then anita gets pregnant. then they lost contact. anita ended up in a different town. that guy marries anita's sister, thinking that is anita.
then most of the movie is about how anita goes through all the hardships etc.... she's in hongkong now. she gives birth to a daughter. they're very poor. and anita has to work at a bar.
in the mean time, that guy's eyes are fixed, he's not blind anymore. and he becomes richer and richer. so one time he goes to hongkong on a business trip and goes to that bar and saw anita working there, but anita didn't see him.
anyway, there was a fire at anita's house, and everything was burnt down. anita thought her daugher died in the fire.. but actually a good friend saved the daughter. the friend and anita lost contact due to the fire. so before this friend dies of cancer, he went to taiwan to give the young daughter back to her biological father to adopt since this couple don't have any kids. (this friend knows that guy is the father, but didn't tell him that).
later, anita went back to taiwain, and she now becomes a very successful designer of sculptures, and works for this company and becomes rich herself..
end of the movie, at a convention they all meet. anita realizes the guy married her sister, and her daugher is still alive and all this time was adopted by her real father....
so actually throughout the whole movie, anita and that guy don't meet much. he was in love with anita the whole time, but mistook her sister for her. pretty sad...
