By reading the news and getting second-hand info, it does seem like Chilam made all of the big decisions. I believe that I am more sensitive to these things than many Chinese people because I've lived here for so long. I dunno, the Western cultures tend to like both sides to make decisions equally, whereas the Chinese tradition has always been the male side handling the moolah and banquet stuff. It is funny how the news still has to say that the male has to have a steady career before he dares to propose to the female...(when I first read it, it did seem natural, but now to think about it, it really shouldn't matter).
Fan, are you living in the West? It would be interesting to learn some different cultural perspectives around here.
