Just wondering why in Mulan, when Anita was about to die at the end, was put on the bed thing without a blanket on her. That makes no sense to me, esp. since she's about to die. Thanks if you can answer this!

pretty interesting question.
don't know WHY the director did that, but I liked it because Mulan looked good in her clothes without being covered by a blanket.

You guys, I just visit a website and watch some of the clips from the State of Divinity series starring Anita Yuen. It was so good, her acting is really great. In this series is kind of different from the 98' remake from TVB. I think the different is that Anita portray that girl seems stronger and angry than the girl who portrayed in the 98' remake from TVB (she portray a weaker type girl). Can't wai to watch it! Don't you guys think?

To people who lived in Hongkong. I just wanna know if you guys finish the Swordman (State of Divinity) series yet! If you guys finish it, please answer some of my question about the series. There is a part where Anita is leaving Richie because he show his care for Vivian Chen. I remembered watching the 98' version of State of Divinity make by TVB. I don't know if this series is exactly the same as TVB. Just wanna that part; Is Anita leaving Richie where he show his care for Vivian (when Vivian is injured by her boyfriend) Thanks in advance.

Anita series "State of Divinity" will be out in the U.S for Viet fans may be next week or this week. I was just wondering; is that series a production of ATV or TVB. Because I have read some of the message and they said that there's a website at tvb.com. But that is not a TVB series, is it. Thanks

thanks Anne for the info.. I've been waiting to watch another series in which Anita plays the lead. I"m so glad it's finally coming out in Vietnamese version in the US..
I think this series was produced by the same Taiwanese company that made "Mulan".. TVB is the TV station that will air this series in Hongkong, that's why they're making a website for it.

I heard someone say that the version of MULAN that Cynthia Yeung Lai Ching is in is better and more popular than Anita's. Is that true?? (I know that this is ANita's forum that you would all say her version is better but please be fair if you have seen them both). I am just wondering.
Posted on Jun 16, 2000, 5:37 PM from IP address 169.237.133.185
From what I've heard, the other mulan series was a awful attempt of the adaptation of the legend. But then again I've never seen it so don't hold me on what I"m saying. I've just heard people say that.
Now for Anita's version, I've personally seen that, and I've got to say that it's an awesome series. My younger sister likes it, my parents, me, it's a series for the whole family. Definately one of the best series, you'll ever see.
From what I understand, the other series is a TVB series, therefore, you're more likely to see it if you are a fan of TVB or you watch cantonese series because Anita's adaptation of mulan is in mandarin.
I hope this helps.=)

I think that Anita's Mulan is much better. Let's talk about the actor in the series. The male lead who act as Li Leng is the one who act as the older prince in Anita Mulan (so what do you think?). Li Lei Ching is not funny at all, but I have to said she is better in the fighting scenes. The customs in that series is really bad and the story is plan boring. This is just only my opinion, don't have to listen to me ^_^

I Like both b/c each had a different focus - one was on relationships, the other on glory and MA
by Krys
Hi
I've seen both versions and I liked both of them. Cynthia Khan's Mulan was very strong, never made a mistake (always right) and she seemed to be better than Li Leung in martial arts in that version. There was very little love and relationships and the series focusses more on the rapid rise to power of Mulan through her incredible ingenuity and infallible judgment. She always wins. BTW, the older prince in the Anita's Mulan actually played two characters in Cynthia's Mulan, firstly, her bestfriend and secondly, the bad guy. Li Leung was played by someone else who seems quite unfamiliar and young. Anita's version of Mulan shows more feelings and the series focusses more on the complex relationships and consequences of her being a female general. Naturally, it shows a greater chemistry between Mulan and Li Leung which is fantastic! It's difficult to compare the two b/c despite the basic storyline, the two series were completely different. I couldn't help admiring Cynthia's Mulan for her continuous wins over the evil forces - she was simply perfect and it kinda made me wonder if she had any human failings at all. Anita's Mulan was totally human - incredibly brilliant but she had her problems as everyone else did. Her Mulan provoked more emotions from me, from laughter to tears to fury/frustration (at her mother-in-law's treatment of her) to excitement (at the chemistry in her relationships with her bestfriend and Li Leung). So really, it all boils down to what you prefer - martial arts films with little drama or brilliant drama and less martial arts.
Just a thought,
Krys

I thought that Anita's series had good kungfu in it too.
by just passing by.
I felt that Anita's mulan has awesome kungfu in it. Especially since the guy that plays Li Leung knows really kungfu. so it looked really good. True there aren't "a lot" of fight scenes but there were quite a few, and each one was really well done. I agree with the tastes part, it depends on what your preferences are. One my suite one person better where as the other would suite someone else better. Or in your case, you liked them both equally.
I guess being an Anita's fan, I'd have to go with her version. lol =)(but then that's my opinion)
Posted on Jun 19, 2000, 3:04 PM from IP address 154.5.4.149
very well put Krys.
since you've seen both series, it's quite fair for you to talk about both series..
for me, I've only seen Anita's version of "Mulan". and I have to say this series is my most favorite Chinese series of all time, well so far.! and I wasn't biased while judging the series at all, because I wasn't a fan of Anita's when I started watching this. well, I might just like anything she's in now that I've become Anita's fan, but when I loved "Mulan" and Anita, it was all because of Anita's brilliant acting and such a great character Mulan is (just so human yet extraordinary) and just a great great script overall.
I think there's good kungfu scenes in here also. and I always loved the scenes with Mulan and Li Leung practicing kungfu. I think they have very good chemistry.

What a coincidence, I became a fan of Anita's after watching Mulan too.
by
In all honesty, I've only started being a fan of Anita's after seeing her version of Mulan. It's true, I've only started "really" noticing her after that performance. I've seen movies with her in them before, but because I'm vietnamese, I had to read the subscripts so I couldn't really pay much attention to her. But since this was in Vietnamese I was able to "see" her.
You're right about the script being good. I have to say that a good script does no good if the actors themselves aren't into the characters, but I feel that the chemistry between all of the characters were great.

Lenlen will not be in HH 2! She's back on big screen now, it that a good news or what? HH 2 is a medical series, and I personally don't like it. I read in magazine said after Hero Around The World lenlen will do a movie, it's drama.

hey everyone
I started to be a huge fan of Anita's while watching "Mulan". she was so good in there. and I just finished watching "Be my guest" (a '93 TVB series). like it pretty much too.
but seems like Anita has starred in quite a few tv series now. why is that? is HK big-screen movie industry going down? 'cause I think Carina Lau is also working on a tv series for ATV currently.
I certainly enjoy HK tv series way lot better than movies. and anyhow it's wonderful to be able to watch Anita in more tv series.
the series Anita's working on right now, is it ancient or modern? does anyone know?
by the way, can't wait for the Vietnamese version of Anita's "State of Divinity" to come out. does anyone know it that's out yet?

Anita new movie is in theater right now, and it was #1 at the post office for HK film (thanks Kimmy for the info). Yup, the movies industry of HK is going down right now because of those fake vcds thing. Actually, I like Anita in tv series more than movie because I just like to see her more.
Posted on Jun 1, 2000, 9:45 PM from IP address 38.28.131.127
Maybe she is earning more if she films series?? anyway, she has like more than 50 movies including those cameo ones. And, as for tv series, she acted more of it when she first started and recently.
Posted on Jun 2, 2000, 6:29 AM from IP address 203.124.2.85
I doubt the she's earning more acting in TV series.. doing big-screen movies definitely earns actors more money. you have to pay to see them, whereas tv series are shown on tv for free.
that's why even though I looooove to see her in tv series, I'd still like her to land roles in movies also.

I agree. she's very pretty in ancient costumes. like in "Mulan", she's beatiful. and I really like her clothes in "Mulan". but Anita is also very pretty in modern clothes, like in "Be My Guest".
like I said, I'm waiting to watch "State of Divinity".. isn't she wearing the same type of clothing like in "Mulan"?

Good NEWS for people living in the San Francisco Bay area!

Just to let you all know that Anita's hit series MULAN is airing on the Chinese Channel 15 at 9pm-10pm. I saw part of it and thought that Anita did an excellent job as MULAN. But it is in Mandarin so you have to understand mandarin to really enjoy it. But if not then it's good to watch too. WHen I saw it that was a couple of weeks ago it was just started and was only on episode 3. I am not sure what episode it is on now, but if you are a big fan of Anita and haven't seen Mu Lan yet then you shouldn't miss out!!

Who's the lady in red, that looks evil in The Swordsman (the new series with Anita Yuen)? Does anyone know her english name? What's her relationship with Anita in the series?
Thanks

I'd didn't mean her. I meant, the older one in red.

What role did she play in that series? Was she Anita's mother? Or was she her enemy?
I don't know the story, so I was just asking.
And what is that actress's name? The older one in red (she looked evil and around 40ish?).
Thanks

Her name Lie Xue Hua...
dunno her english name.. she role as lead female in few of CHeong Yao story ... always easy got tears one in her eyes... ^_^... i like her too..
she role as Anita 'uncle'..
the story is she was a man before she decided to learn new dangerous kungfu .. change her become woman lor... she was anita father 'man'... she betrayed anita father and she love anita a lot !
tat all i think
Posted on Jun 2, 2000, 10:14 AM from IP address 203.123.252.165
The lady in red is played by Leann Liu Xue Hua. If you don't know who she is, then you must have been sleeping under a rock for the last two decades or so...unless you were just born recently. Liu Xue Hua played a lot of Qiong Yao's romance series, such as The Mute Wife.
Anyway, her relationship with Anita is that she used to work for Anita's dad. However, she stole this very important kung fu book from Anita's dad and learned the kung fu which made her invincible. By the way, she used to be a man before she learned this strange form of kung fu. After Anita's dad has disappeared or been missing for a long time, she sort of took Anita into her sect/cult as her very own daughter (but with a hidden motive of course). Anyway, I don't want to give away too much because it will spoil the surprise. Unless you want me to.....

I am currently watching the serial "Mulan", and I just can't get enough of this serial. Even though it is long, but it is worth the time because Anita and Man-Cheuk are so cute together plus they are talented. Could someone tell me if it is a happy ending with them? ALso, to Vietnamese viewers do you know if "Fist of Hero" and "Fong Sai Yuk" both series with Chiu Man Cheuk came out in vietnamese yet, if so could you give me the title..thanks

I don't know which movie it is but here is the viet title for one of cheuk's movie which i believe there are 20 tapes that are released:
"thieu lam anh hung phuong the ngoc"
Posted on Apr 18, 2000, 10:40 AM from IP address 63.29.201.36
Fong Sai Yuk is 22 tapes, and I would not recomend this series because the story is so boring and the actress can't act. The other series I believe it called "Trung Hoa Dai Truong Phu" I don't think it released yet. I watch that in VCDs, and it speak mandarin which I can't really understand, but fortunately there is subtile (in Chinese characters). I have to said this series is so good, and fun. Fennie Yuen is a good actress, and you can see the chemistry between him and Zhao Wen Zhuo. (there was a rummor said that Zhao fall for Fennie while shooting that series).
Nga,
The new series of Anita is Taiwanese product again. This is an ancient series and of course as usual Anita will be the female lead. Don't ask me who is the main lead because I have no idea too. Don't worry, I'll tried to find out more about this as I can. Hey, do you know how to post pictures in this forum? I have many pictures of Anita that I want to show you guys, but I can't post it in here. Should we sign up a new forum for Anita? Let's me know what do you think about it ok Nga.

www.geocities.com/hk_macaroni/ayuen/anita.html
i need some help from you guys though...can you fill me in on info with awards she has gotten over the years and all of her tv series? i would really appreciate your help.
i also noticed there are many vietnamese fans of anita here. i am also viet. for the past couple months they were showing Mulan on my local Chinese channel but i couldn't understand a thing!

hey MC, are you in Southern Cal. too? I know local TV channel here is showing Mulan, and it's getting pretty close to the end. hey, don't get sneak peaks from Chinese channel, you should rent Mulan. it's called "Nu Tuong Hao Kiet". it's really good.
sorry can't help you on Anita's info.. just recently became a fan of hers from watching Mulan.. I too would like to know about her, it's real cool that you're doing a page for her.
Posted on Apr 10, 2000, 7:36 PM from IP address 151.112.40.239
At the first 4 chapters the story was completely different from the novel, but then it make sense. Anita acting skill was wonderful, and she's much better than in Mulan specially her chemisty between her and Richi. I find Richi acting skill not very good, but it's acceptable. The cast was good, except that Chan girl (sorry to her fans) I find her character so boring....but other than that very was great. This series even beat ATE 2, can you believe it?
Posted on Mar 26, 2000, 2:33 AM from IP address 38.28.131.210
so State of Divinity is shown on TVB in Hongkong then? but this series is also produced in Taiwan like Mulan right? wow, it's great to hear that Anita's series has higher ratings than TVB ATE.
