      I don't know a lot about the MPC, and if I'm understanding what your questions is, it sounds like the problem might be that the MPC isn't sending out velocity levels via the pads. Or that the ASR isn't receiving velocity from the MPC. If you play the sample on the ASR, are you able to hear volume difference the harder you hit the key? If so, it's the MPC. If not it may be the ASR.
