My SCSI isn't working correctly, why?

I just got my ASR 10 about a month ago. It came with SCSI installed and with a 24X max Mac OS External SCSI CD-ROM. I've been trying to swtich from my floppy to my SCSI, and it keeps on telling me that I have an "Unconnected SCSI Device". I have everything hooked up correctly and the External Cd rom is turned on. I also had heard that my ID for my SCSI couldn't be 3, which it isn't, What is going on? How am i able to check if my SCSI is card is working correctly. When i startup is informs me that SCSI is installed. Could this be the CD DRIVE itself? Help is appreciated, Peace

Your CD-ROM drive works best when it is set to SCSI ID#4

Ensoniq recommends this setting in order to view banks and sequences on CD-ROM'S.

Then try: Command>System>Change Storage Device>SCSI ID#4

The SCSI drive must be connected and powerd on before the ASR boots in order for it to recognize the drive.

Try that and see if it works.

Same SCSI problem

April 18 2004, 6:36 PM

Command=>System.MIDI=>Change Storage Device=>SCSI ID 4=>Enter

....then get message:'Disk Drive Not Ready"

All gear seems to be correctly hooked up and ASR recognises SCSI on boot up.

Would love some suggestions if anyone is familiar with this problem

You did make sure to physically change the SCSI ID on the CD-ROM drive to 4 correct? Then tried powering off the entire keyboard and then restarting? The ASR searches the SCSI bus fro devices and ID's upon startup. With SCSI unlike USB, changes are dependent upon restart.

I think you need to have an Ensoniq formatted CD in the drive too.

SCSI Problem

Hi Rhetoric, I am having total dramas with mine too. I hit all the correct commands, have Ensoniq formatted disk in the drive, SCSI ID04 on unit and inside ASR, still getting the message :'Disk Drive Not Ready". It's driving me nuts.

Why can't SCSI respond

May 18 2004, 11:33 AM

Did you tried out all the other devices 1 to 7. Because this depends on the position of the Jumber on the pins of the hard drive/hard disc. You know the position?
