How does this set up sound for the ultimate studio?
MPC-2000 for drums and samples
ASR-10 for keys
Triton rack and MoPhatt for sounds
all sequenced through the MPC-2000
recorded into the M Box/Pro Tools LE(for easy editing) on a Mac G4 Notebook
dumped into the Roland 1680(for the warm sound)for mastering
burned analog to CD on a Sony CD-R recorder(for extra loud CD masters)
I have all of the items except the Triton rack, M Box, Mac, and recorder. Any of these not worth getting? Is there another setup that can top this?
Just make sure you have talent and know what the hell you're doing before you start spending all kinds of dough or you'll just be a dick with alot of nice equipment. PEACE!
That's a good point for most cats because they forget about the talent aspect and think that the equipment does it for you. Not an issue for me, I've been producing tracks for major labels for over 5 years now. I'm just upgrading my studio and trying to politic with some cats on what's hot right now. I posted under a made up name. You know me, you have many of my tracks in your collection if you have listened to hip hop for the past 5 years.
Whether he has talent or not, doesn't make him a "Dick" If he can afford to do it, he should do it, There is a whole lot more talent then opportunity anyway. I have at least 10 close friends that are more talented then 90% of the people that get airplay. It is a combination of "passable" talent meeting opportunity. I mean someone please explain Britney Spears to me!?!??!? If he gets the equipment and he finds he doesn't have any talent, he can always find some talented people and let them use his stuff.
That's just plain fuckin stupid. Who the fuck would waste that money and find out if they had talent later and than if they don't have talent rent to someone who does?? You must be a dick! Baby steps seems smarter to me.
You have more then enough. The producers working under me. We starting to make waves in the industry in small steps.
One of the producers in the studio I manage has the style of beats that teddy riley is interested in using. Just told me today. And my man only uses a triton le. He also worked on a few up coming acts and has a asr-10 to sample from too. even broke bread with my man and had him over. SInce they kinda knew each other in past.
And another young cat had just licensed some of his tracks to Poke of the trackmasters. And all he used to show his skills was on a yamaha motiff. The mid brand version. With music mixed on a OO2R. Poke like his style so much. That my man stayed at his house all summer to work with him.
Nice and simple. So to answer your question. That set-up is more then enough.
I have a asr-10. Just learn your tool inside out whatever it is.
