Trying to use EDE109 format a floppy so I can make an OS disk. The formatting process gets to Sector 79, then gives me an error message and quits. I've tried several different brand floppys, including brand new disk. All end at Sector 79.

Amy help is appreciated!

Just in case I get a response , I'll update where I'm at.

I gather that I might need to start with an unformatted floppy. So I tried unformatting a disk with a magnet. The disk is now unrecognized by Windows or EDE. Tried KillDisk. Windows will recognize and format a disk after KillDisk unformats it, but EDE no longer recognizes it.

At this point I think it's probably one of two things:

1) XP formats disk to FAT 32. The EDE program is older, so maybe it needs disks formatted to FAT 16.

2) It need to boot my computer in DOS for EDE to work properly. I don't know how to do that with XP, or if it can be done. MS-DOS boot disk doesn't recognize my hard drive, where EDE and other needed files reside (too big for a floppy). Tried making a DOS disk with Freeboot. It's suppose to recognize hard drives, but it doesn't.
