Sorry to all you out there who seem to love these things, but take it from me if your thinking about wasting your money on one of these,I've spent enough time working on these things over the years to know your throwing your money down a black hole,I've worked in repair shops where these things amongst other ensoniq keyboards were piled up in a corner, everey one of them had some kind of goofy ass problem, there nothing but a pain in the ass to use and even a bigger pain in the ass to work on,sure if you pick one up for 25 or 50 bucks when it finally gives up the ghost you will not have lost much, just don't spend your cash on getting it fixed, somthing else will only stop working on it,it can be as bad as a crack habit,I've seen people come in spend 100 or so to get this fixed 200 or so for that, and for what?? a sampler that can only hold up to 16 meg,has shitty action, and about as dependable as a yugo, bottom line-take your hard earned or not so hard earned cash and buy a real sampler/keyboard that has a good track record.
I get the feeling that ur sitting in front of one of these "crap machines". Maybe u could post what specific problem you`ve had with it..? The ASR dates 10 yrs+ back, + the ensoniq
company is dead so it ain`t really a wonder that there is a lot of broken unit`s out there, + stuck people trying to get rid of them... I just bought mine, and treat it like antique; with extreme caution, but to me it ROCKS!! And the fact that it`s still in use by many top-dollar making musicians out there, proves ur statement, well, not accurate. Feel free to post ANY questions about the ASR-10!!
I did not mean just at the present I'm thinking all the way back when these things being manafactured, this is the era of the "pile of ensoniqs" I was speaking of,when they were new they would constantly come in with problems,I feel sorry for the poor bastard that had to deal with customer service and support at ensoniq he probably hung himself.Hey if ya got one thats working right thats great, cherish it because it probably won't work right for long, sorry to be a downer but asr 10's suck,I don't ever want to look at another one again along with a few other 80's 90's digital sampling wonder keyboard nightmares,I can remember a few times when people would bring them in for repair and never even come back to pick it up, I've givin a few away(apologies to those people because they probably still cursing me after all these years)a few met a pleasurable destructive fate, which I must say if one of these "crap machines" was sitting in front of me would end up the same way
Who cares, dude, so the machine doesn't suite you? Move on use something else? BTW, How much money did you make repairing ASR's? I bet you didn't bitch when it put ham in your split pea soup?
Dude, I've had the ASR-10 since 1993 and mine rocks! Maybe it's just user error??? Check my beats made with only the ASR-10 and nothing else at: http://www.soundclick.com/defscottyb peace...
If the ASR is a buggy peace of scrap then it's the BEST BUGGY PEACE OF SCRAP I OWNED IN MY LIFE. I'm doing AcidHouseJazz with it and it's the perfect device for this mix of naturals and synths.
Do something good, sell your ASR to someone in need!
