MPC 2000XL vs. ASR-10

I have the 2kxl(without the EB16) and I feel comfortable with it. I copped the Asr keyboard about two months ago to get the effects and other advantages of it. The main idea was to sample into asr and sequence in the xl. First, I was very pleased with the sound and functions of asr, but as I try to use it more and more, I feel like it's slowing me down because of the time it takes to chop up things and makes them organised. When I want to chop the sample into five parts, it is very simple and fast on the asr, but when it comes to chopping into more than that, it starts to be a mess. I bought the asr for about 450 dollars and I want to ask, should I sell it for 700 and get the EB16 and some vinyl, or try to mess around with it for a longer time to get used to it, or buy emu's mo' phat and the eb16? I know it is all personal preference and there is no right way, I ask for suggestions to get the idea of different possibilities. I like the heavy sampled beats, no synths. Any advice would be highly appreciated

Personally, I would say sell it. It's a really old board, and it's not for everyone. The way that you are using it is the same way that I hear other people with MPC's use it (which isn't a bad thing). But it sounds to me like you'd be better off with updated gear.

You shouldn't have a problem selling it, either, cause there are a ton of people out there that still want one. 700 is kinda steep, though. But, that could also depend on your area.

Good Luck with that.
