| ive noticed that the yellow light near the disk drive on my ASR 10 is starting to melt and the plastic around keeps melting more and more everytime i use the keyboard. Im pretty sure im not doing anything wrong so i dont know what the problem is.
Has anyone else had this problem and do you think it will eventually break the disk drive?
can you even fix disk drives onASR 10's still?
any help would be appreciated, thanks peace |

yes, you can find the drives, and they are pretty simple to replace. They are pretty expensive ,but I think that's because the ASR is so old, and no one is making the drives anymore. Even Chickensys no longer carries them, and they didnt know of anyone that refurbishes them. SO, best bet is to search online like crazy and stock up on them. I have 2 extras right now, and most of my work is done on the ASR that has a zip drive. I use the zip for booting up now, so I don't use the floppy drive as much. |

I see floppy drives for ASR-10's on eBay quite often. They average $80 - $100.
