HELP!!! ASR-10 wont sample???May 12 2007 at 7:42 PM | jrob (no login) |
| I recently bought an ASR-10 and after 2-3 samples, it no longer samples from the INPUT A/B jacks in the back. The input and peak meters show that sound is coming through and the gain knob in the back seems to work, but the vertical lines on the display no longer appear (the ones that tell you that you've reached/exceeded the threshold indicator). However, I can load existing instruments and play them out through the 2 main outs just fine.
At first, sound would come through the first 2-3 times, then only sporadically and it sounded like a short, followed by no sound whatsoever. I've tried swapping the INPUT OUTPUT boards with another one and wiggling the ribbon cables inside the ASR-10 to see if there is a short. No luck. I also noticed that the memory only shows about 84 seconds of memory when sampling at 44k with 16MB, yet I thought it's supposed to show over 3 minutes. At this point, I am out of ideas. Should I be looking to swap the mother board. Any tips?

I would check the mic/line input levels on the back and make sure it is switched correctly and the volume is turned up. |

How many blocks do you show? Sounds like it might be memory. If it is, for crying out loud don't pay some merchant a fortune for a little kit - just buy some sticks yourself. You can get 'em for about 4 bucks apiece. You could replace the whole 16 megabytes for 16 bucks. I'd prolly do that before thrashing around for a new digital board. | |
