Does this scsi-device/reader also work for the ASR-X/ASR-X Pro? Doesn't it just use +5 or +12 Volts
internally? Wouldn't it be better to feed it that, instead of the 220-110 step down transformer?

No, sadly it doesn't work with the ASR-X/Pro. I don't know if it works with the EPS 16+; if anyone who owns an EPS 16+ would like to try one of these drives with it, we'll be happy to give a full refund if it isn't compatible.

The drive comes with a 110v only external power supply which supplies 5v DC 1 amp. We figured it was easier to make a small step-down power converter available to our overseas customers for now, while we look for a source for 220v power supplies that output the proper voltage.

How come Ensoniq did such a bad job implementing scsi on the ASR-X? Did the use a bad
incompatible chip for it, or something. I thought it would be superior to the ESP and ASR-10 ones, after all, SCSI-2 cards never fail to recognize drives or units on the PC.
