Heyyyo,
I've had my ASR for about 12-13 years now and it recently started doing something strange. I still use floppys (i know, i know...) cuz my SCSI port is unreliable for some reason, and recently when i've been saving my Song, it's started taking up 3 or more disks just to save the song! All the sequences still take up hardly any room, but the song for some reason takes up so many disks. The song i'm currently trying to save says it's only 989 blocks, but is taking 4 disks to save!?
I have OS 3.53, and i'm guessing it might be a bug in the OS, but was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem?
Thanks in advance...
Man, i know what you mean but my SCSI only reads information, it won't load stuff...either from zip OR cd-rom. I'll save a beat on zip and that sh*t won't load up completely. Certain instruments will get stuck on the zip and won't load up. A beat i save on a zip is a beat i will never hear again. I hear you on the floppys but at least my beats load back up from them. I don't have time to give up my ASR for like 3 weeks while someone tries to figure out what's wrong with the SCSI, that's valuable beat-making time you feel me?
As a long time ASR user, i can tell you it's a bug in the OS that usually only shows up after you've saved the song a few times.
Write down the order of your sequences, then save each sequence seperatly. Power down, load your sounds, and then load each sequence seperatly. Create your song, and re-save with a new name.
a pain in the ass, but it saved me a few times!
