I am pretty new at all of this so I would really appreciate any help I could get. I recently purchased an ASR 10 and a MPC 2000XL and will be using the ASR as the sampler and for other instruments with the MPC as the drum kit and sequencer. I was just wondering what else I should get to have this working efficiently. I know I need the scsi cable to hook up the two but I was wondering if I should purchase a zip drive, or cd rom or both. Also, is it possible for me to download songs on my computer, save them on my floppy disk and use them in the ASR? If i get a zip drive would this still be possible? IF i get the cd rom, would i be able to do the same thing with cds? any help would be amazing right now. Thanks!
I know you're gonna need a midi cable to connect the asr and the mpc. and as far as the cd and zip drive you can stack those with two scsi cables, i got the zip going to the asr and the cd drive going in to my zip drive, but I guess it depends on what kind of drives you have. Imma give you the secret weapon though, go to the chicken systems website and call that 320 number. talk to garth and that muthafucka knows everything about ASRs, i used to call him like once a week.
If you are still looking for help, please contact me and I can help you figure out the best SCSI storage devices for your ASR-10 and MPC2000XL. You can call me (the number is on the website) or email me (there is an email link on the website).
