Hiiii, everybody! Dr%2BNick%2BSimpsons.png JD from SCSIforSamplers.com here (that is an actual picture of me) and I have great news. We have been hard at work in our vast laboratory located deep in the heart of the Florida rain forest on a new top-secret project. Sadly, many perished in its development but I believe you will agree it was all worth it because we are now shipping a new Compact Flash Card Reader drive called the CF-CARD that installs in your ASR-10, ASR-10R and ASR-88 and allows you to use CF cards up to 8GB in size. This SCSI drive installs in the same location as where your floppy drive is installed now and boots from any CF Card.

Store all your data on this very fast drive and get up to 8GB of storage space on a single CF card. Of course, you can also use smaller CF cards from 512MB on up. You'll need the Translator program to format CF cards over 2GB in size but the free PC version allows this (although I highly recommend buying the Ensoniq version because it is an excellent program and Chicken Systems deserves our monetary support for creating this useful piece of software!) and we will format any CF Cards that are purchased from us prior to shipping.

The CF-CARD comes in both internal and external versions. Best of all, you won't believe the price on this drive - under $100 for the internal version! You can read more about the CF-CARD on our website here.

ASR-X Owners: This drive also works with the ASR-X and ASR-X Pro but only in the external case version. But still, for all of you who have been looking for a card reader drive for your ASR-X, here it finally is - just click here!

Thank you for reading this and let me know if you have any questions. Please remember that this is a SCSI drive and so you MUST have the SCSI interface installed in order to use it.

Thank you...

...for your opinion. I'll be sure to keep that in mind. In the meantime, for those of you who live in the real world and find 8GB enough storage space (therefore hotswapping isn't an issue), be sure to check these out on our website. They are selling like crazy, so don't wait too long.

Of course, for those of you who must have hotswapping, there are still some Spyrus RD300 drives available on eBay for $275.00 each.

Hmmm, should I spend $89.00 for a drive that is native CF, can use up to 8GB CF cards but has no hotswapping. Or I can spend $275.00 for a drive that requires a PCMCIA adapter (making it slower), can only use a 4GB CF card but does do hotswapping. Decisions, decisions...

Spyrus Drives are great!

Yep, the Spyrus drives rock, no doubt. If you ever want to mount it internally, we offer a mod to turn it into a standard floppy-sized 3.5" drive for $25.00. We also have the internal install kit for $44.00, so you could go totally internal. No more lugging around a separate drive!

If you are interested, contact JD at www.scsiforsamplers.com.

How do load times compare from the CF reader drive and a zip drive? Are they the same? Also, is there a way to get the sounds I have on floppies and CDs to a CF card? I would love to have one and have everything on there. I think 8 gigs would be plenty of room.
