ASR 10 Won't Boot

Hey all, recently new to these forums. I just purchaed an ASR 10 from eBay and fired it up lastnight. The unit turns on and all the instruments light up and there seems to be some activty on the floopy drive, but the screen stays blank and the keyboard does nothing else. Seems to be frozen. I tried reseating some of the ribbon cables and memory thinking something got loose from shipping, but still does not seem to want to boot up.

Any thoughts. The buyer is willing to take it back for a refund, but I'm not sure I'm going to get a good deal like this again. Keyboard looks brand new. Any suggestions to revive this thing? Could it be something simple? I'd rather not have to ship it to CA for a repair, (I live in NY) Keyboard came with OS 3.0 disk.

Thanks in advance!

Ryan

I have the same issue. Sometimes it takes 5 times to boot up.
I put some kurzweil ram in mine so I wonder if its parity or non parity but im willing to bet its just something wrong.

At times mine boots up all wonkie and I power cycle it.

Thanks for the repy

Yeah, I tried booting it about 20 times, but still no luck, just frozen lit instruments. You think it might be memory? It looks like it has 16 megs...all slot are full and the jumper is set to expanded so it looks properly configured??

I will be using this keyboard for live performances and really need it to work. I'm curious if repairing it is even worth it with shipping all the way to California?

Any other suggestions tips to troubleshoot??

Thanks again!

try this ofr the memory.

set the jumper the standard. pull all the memory and use two random sticks. if it boots, a stick could be bad. rotate using all of the sticks and see f that helps.
