I keep seeing reoccurring post asking how to backup floppies, etc via computer programs, but none gives a definitive answer.?,
Can someone please give a step by step "how to" on backing up floppies via computer programs? Also could you couple that with converting to other sampler formats?
Do I need omniflop, total commander, ensoniq disk tools, and translator? Do I need windows 98, xp, and or vista?

Where are you located? I might be able to help if you sent them.
How many are they?
Install a ATA Floppy drive in a PC with windows XP. (NO USB)
Install omniflop and follow its install method.
If you are confused with omni flop install uninstall, reboot and install again. Its two drivers one for the drive and one for the controller.
Install Total commander.
Install EnsoniqUnpackerEFE.zip
Install EnsoniqFS-0.57-BETA.zip.
Then use Total commander and go into networking under drives and find the floppy.
If you continuity get the error that Omni flop is not installed, then uninstall it, both driver and controller, reboot and try again because you did it backwards or incorrectly.
In chicken systems translator you must also tick box under format options to show Ensoniq file systems.
Its really not that hard,
Do you want to send me your Floppies?
I will email the files back to you.
I am in austin texas and I can transfer them for $15 into a Zip disk.
($15 because Id have to buy a working ZIP drive)

Ok, cool
Now can someone help me out?
I want to try the above mentioned steps, but am currently on a vista pc.
I have an extra hard drive, and widows xp which Im guessing I can install on my vista computer, and then boot up using xp on the extra hard drive, correct?

Then use vista! It might work.
Do you have an internal Floppy drive installed yet?
Transferring from your ASR10 wont work, transferring from a kurzweil wont work.
No mac will help you.
