gday,

i just picked up an mtx8 to run my fj20t, it is second hand and was in a 1600 with an fj20t like mine, but was setup with 4 coil packs. I dont have coil packs and i want to run a single coil and my stock fj20t distributor. Are the stock distributor a cranke angle sensor? or do i need to change it? if so to what and how?

the Wiring Harness is all complete and its pretty much a plug and play job except it is wired for the 4 coil packs,
i have wiring diagrams printed out that ive gone over a bit

Any help??

ignitor = ignition module ...

you need to know what the ecu is setup to use ...

ie. if you have power and ign to the ecu, check the dwell settings and see which ignition setup it matches to ...

if it is definately the single coil distributer setup then you will have 1 grey/blue ignition output wire

then check if your module is a 4 wire or 2 wire?

ie. ign output, ignition 12V, +ve coil, -ve coil
or
ign output, neg coil

middle of left column or far bottom right ...

sorry just read your first post ...

its setup for multi coils ...

which means it will use the distributer as C.A.S and has internal ignitor's for 4 coils ... hence the "x"

coils are $50 RRP each

yeh,

so is there any modifications to the distributor???

the wiring harness is all done its just a matter of plug it in... what coil packs do i buy??? do these have internal ignition modules???

if i follow the wiring diagram on microtech website, will there be any problems???

are there any secrets or anything that arent shown on the diagrams?

cheers

i am unfamiliar with FJ20 distributer's

take the cap off and check if they have a home signal ... i would assume they do ... so you should see 2 pickups inside ...

if possible compare with the distributer the ecu came off

use 4 x bosch coils ...

the x model's have in built ignitor's hence you dont need ignition module
