gday,

i want to upgrade my standard injectors, i am now running a T04 with a turbosmart progate etc.
just wondering if there are any injectors available that use the hose tail ends(same as standard) that dont require modifications or having to change the fuel rail to a "clamp down" type???

i have a set of 550cc rx7 injectors but they use O-ring seals("clamp down" fuel rail) instead of the hose tail ends, and dont seem to fit in the boss on the manifold as well as the standard ones???

any ideas???
i remember seeing a post on here ages ago that had step by step photos shwoing how you modify the rx7 ones...

any ideas???

please help

Hi, the RX7 injectors should still be fine. I use them in my FJ and what i did was remove the o-ring, here in lies the difficulty, the injector rail ends are different size to the injector inlet. you have to use the same size hose as the fuel rail and squeeze the hose over the injector end then use the proper... and I emphasise, the proper, EFI hose clamps and hose to hold everything together. That should be about it.

Good luck,

Gareth

Think it was Seb that posted the step by step? The holes in the manafold are a bit small for the 13B squirters,so either need ddriling out,or what ever Seb did. (swapped pintal caps?)

I had tested series 4 and 5 RX7 injectors on my FJ manifold. The series 4 injectors needed the spintel caps removed completely or cut down. They're just there for protection so dont worry about removing them competely. I did with no probs. However, if you have series 5 RX7 injectors, these should slide in with no probs. I in fact needed an extra rubber insulator so that the injectors could butt againts the manifold properly.

I did post a step-by-step protocol but unfortunately the pics have expired. If you need me to post again, just let me know.

cheers for the replies,

id really appreciate to see those step by step photos, im pretty sure they are series 5 injectors, got them from sss automotive a fair while ago. they definetly fit in the boss's but not as snug as the standard injectors tho i suppose u have to expect that. they have not been modified at all by me unless someone has done so in the past...

so im assuming that they are series 5 as they do fit pretty well and the series 4's require mods correct?

cheers again

If you call removing the spintle cap a modifcation then, yeah, I found the series 4 injectors needed this done and that the series 5 didnt. I will get around to sending you pics sometime when I can transfer the pics from my laptop. PM me if I seem to take long!
