I don't get it. I bought an FJ cause they says its tough compared to the SR which is what i want for big hp, but in Zoom and Hot 4's i see huge HP SR's with virtually standard internals. 300+ rear wheel kilowatts the norm.

What it doesnt say is that the SR's bore goes oval with that sorta power and things have to be upgraded more frequently, it doesnt say that they rocker gear has been broken x amount of times etc.

SR20s arent that weak....also they do not need to rev to make power compared to the fj. I remember seeing a post by someone saying that the SR would make power 1000rpm earlier than the fj. Anyways, depending on your limits, the SR can be a very good engine. There a plenty going around with completely stock internals and vavle gear making 300-350rwho on pump. When you start going more, then the FJ leaves the SR for dead, not even a comparison. Hell, the CA is probably better for high hp than the SR.

Also bear in mind that most publications of that nature will say the FJ is old, heavy, noisey, needs rebuilding, etc, etc Seems Mr M.Donnon isn't a big FJ fan perhaps?
I guess most FJ20's "off the boat" would need a freashen up,but what can you expect from a 20year old stock engine?
Hard to beat for my money.
