I have just bought a FJ20 turbo,what should the compersson be in the cynders.(what is good for a motor that is 20 years old)& what is the least.(i send it back to the place i bought it).What is a 5 speed worth for a fj20 turbo? comes with 3 month wantry

Mine was 140lb in each cylinder. That’s pretty crappy but it is more important that they are all fairly close to each other.

I have tested a few FJ20ET and all have been around the 150 mark.

The fresh engines I have tested have been around 170.

Intercooled engine? Or not?
ie. Static compression 7.5:1 or 8.0:1?

I would expect a fresh 7.5:1 engine to yield 150 psi MAX
And a not so fresh 7.5:1 engine to yield 125-130 psi

I would expect a fresh 8.0:1 engine to yield 160 psi MAX
And a not so fresh 8.0:1 engine to yield around 135 psi

My FJ is 7.5:1.

Other running FJ’s tested have been both the intercooled and non intercooled versions. All have been with in 155 to135 regardless.

A fresh 8.0:1 engine I tested had 170 in each with around 3000km’s on it.

From the looks of that i would say you have a typical 2nd hand 7.5:1 static compression FJ20 engine!

Those numbers are ok too mate!

Now you can see why FJ's luvvvvvvvv boooost and have such light switch power

I thought the stock FJ's were 8.0:1 and 8.5:1????
Doesn't really worry me as mine's 7.11:1

So what is the comperson 7.5.1 ,8.0.1 ,8.5.1. mine is the non intercooled model.Did an oil presser test & i got
25 cold 75 hot & comperson
no 1 125
no 2 125
no 3 123
no 4 128
Can i put this in my car i should i give it a rebuild.

as above ... check my post ... your figures are normal for a 2nd hand jap import FJ engine mate.

Drop it in and crank the boost up

the non-intercooled were 7.5:1
and the intercooled were 8:1

dude you can use that motor, pretty average for one you'll get from an importer, but i suppose it depend on what you want.
