as my old man always said its because number 4 gets the most wear ond tear when you drop the clutch etc cos its closest to the flywheel and therefore gets more stress etc on it. I think hes talking out his arse tho

Yer, all due respect to ur dad but thats a crock......an amusing crock....but still a crock.
Ive read something on this before and supposedly its an airflow issue that supposedly restricts airflow to that last cylinder under high flow conditions, due to the shape of the tapered inlet log.
Could be associated cooling issues at the last cylinder as well but Im not sure on that one.
Anyone?

I've also heard that number 4 suffers a bit on the air flow department.I don't know if you would see the results from that in a stockish engine though?
The clevererer guys on here should be able to confirm this?

i thought it was because the water temp is alway hotter in the rear so its always #4 cylinder that has trouble because its always runs hotter than the rest?
