Blue smoke from S12 and springs???December 26 2005 at 8:54 AM No score for this post | Einar (Norway) (no login) from IP address 81.235.20.87 |
| Hi, I have a 1984 Nissan Silvia 2.0 DOHC, I have a problem with much blue smoke i the exhaust on this, it uses too much oil also off course.
Is there some easy stuff I can check before I starts too change piston-rings and valve-sealings, have tried to block the crank-case ventilation, did`nt work.
So I hope you got some good tips for me too check.
How is it to find new springs for the car where you live, lowering springs etc., Nissan here can only find the part number for the rear springs and they are EXPENSIVE, and no one in aftermarket-shops have heard about the car.
Is there some other car who have the same transmission as the S12 with FJ-engine?
Please excuse my english, it`s bad. |

Piston rings and/or valve seals are the most likely, blue smoke is a sign of oil being burnt in the cylinders. It usually gets there by going past the rings or valve seals. Do not block the breathers, that will make things worse.
Springs? Don't you have car spring makers? Either get them to make new ones or else get the old ones reset. Or do a coil over conversion. |

I just tried too block the hoses so th engine not would stop and too see if it was something wrong with the crankcase vent. And the engine will stop if I lift the oil stick, did not block so the engine could not breathe, if you understand?
I suppose i have too change the piston rings, and hone the cylinders.
The engine has runned over 310 000 km so it is the time.
Do any of you know if S13 springs will fit or someone else, The originals are sawn off, and is not easy too find.
Is it expensive to make new ones specially for me, I should ask that question in aNorwegian Forum i think.
Thanks for the help so far. |
