My FJ20ET has finally arrived. After going Japan - New Jersey - now Toronto, 8 months later, I'm ready to start.
The motor is in amazing shape. I pulled off the valvecover, and the cams don't show ANY signs of wear. I'd swear they were new, but even the inside of the motor is clean.
Anyway, missing from the skid was the starter motor, mounts and TPS.
I've since swapped in a 240SX KA24DE throttle body (60mm) and will use the stock TPS (standalone, so no bother)
The motor is going in a heavily modded S12 200SX (Gazelle)
Unfortunately the FJ never came here in any capacity.
I've read that the L28 out of the 280zx's bellhousing is very close to the FJs, so I was wondering if the starters would interchange? I have access to 280ZX parts, but the car is outside, and it's still wintery. Before I go spelunking to get it, I was wondering if anyone here knew an alternative?
Otherwise, I get good rates on all auto parts, so if ANYTHING interchanges (provided it came to North America) I can use it.
I was also wondering if someone has a picture of S12 FJ mounts. I can make my own no problem, but I'd like to see how Nissan did it, just to try and get the motor to fit. It's a DR30 FJ, and clearance is a wee bit tight in a LHD S12
