ill be doin a conversion from a ca18det in a s13/180 to a fj20T engine, just wondering what box would be better to run against it? i noe the fjT box is made for the engine, maybe the ca/sr one has better ratios etc, even fits?
replies appreciated.

FJT and CA boxes had the same ratios, they're a little wide, but hey, you'll have gaggles of torque with a turbo.
The early NA FJ boxes have the best ratios of all the stock boxes, but they have the early synchros and little narrow gears, which a big bad turbo motor will break!
Go for the RB box, they're indestructible.
The SR box just won't bolt up without major major work..

Nope , FJ20 boxes all have same ratios , CA's were wider . FJT and RB71C box from NA RB30/Turbo RB20 have same width gears and same ratios . Only real difference was larger syncro hub 3-4 and bigger diametre dog rings on the hub side of 3rd and the input mainshaft gears . Gearshift mechanism is different , B type for FJ and C type for RB71C .
FJ bellhousing will fit SR20 box with mods (lower bearing hole) but is shorter so may not be an easy conversion . I would be doing a GTiR engine or at least its top end . Probably the best 2L turbo 4 is the Mitsi Evo 4g63 .
