I am having problems with my FJ20et powered 510 continually stalling for no apparent reason. It first started when the car would run very lean. I could never figure out why, but some days I could run all day just fine, and other days I couldn’t even make it out of the driveway with out the fuel mixture leaning out. I have 300 miles on the motor (which is freshly rebuilt) and I’m trying to break it in to 500 miles before I get the car dyno tuned. My fuel pressure keeps a steady 40-50 lbs, however my garage smells strongly of raw fuel after the car sits in it over night so I decided to go ahead and tighten all my –8AN fuel lines. They were clearly loose, but I could not find any signs of a leak. After tightening them the car would run better, but would sometimes stall. I pull it out the next day, then same problems. I’ve done this twice but I can’t tighten my lines anymore, however I don’t think this is my problem.
What really puzzles me is that the car stalled on me twice today while the fuel mixture remained on the rich side. So while limping it home, the fuel mixture suddenly went lean and the car stalled out again. How can this be happening while I have steady fuel pressure? I’m running a Haltech E6X and 72lb injectors. Could this be because of a problem with the map? Why does it run fine some days and not others? Any suggestions would help.
