has anyone had any luck with water injection? ive been reseaching it a little and it all seems to make sense in writing and on paper, it makes sense to me how it would make performance gains reduce detonation etc but just for my own peice of mind if anyone has had success so im not wasting my time but if no1 has tried it i guess i will be the guinea pig

One of my best mates has a 180b sss with a carbie-fed turbo setup and the thing pings hard at times so were planning set up water/meth

I havnt done it before but our datto guru has used it on this setup before and that managed 18psi with out detonating

Now it aint a EFI FJ20 but he said its all to do with the mixture your using its only 20% water i think and 80% methonl

This it just plumbed into the inlet and a hobs type switch is used to when boost is over 7psi it sprays

Ill try to find out more when i c him next

Simon

I use water injection on my E15ET Exa. It works a treat. Keeps the engine clean inside and with advanced timing and 20 lbs of boost there's no detonation.

I run water injection on my race car. We got an 11% gain on the dyno (before and after). We run straight water, no methanol. Running a 50/50 mix of water methanol will give even better results.

I would never own another turbo car without it.

You will gain your power from more aggressive timing and fuel maps. We are running an extra 7 degrees of timing, more boost and leaner fuel mixtures.....and still no sign of detonation.

Do I sound biased....well yes I am. I import the Boost Cooler water injection kits from the states. For more info, check out our website www.boostcooler.com.au

Mark.
