Well dude, perhaps a call to your registration authority in your state may put your mind at ease.
After all, they are the ones that are going to say yay or nay to your proposed ride.

From mine and my friend's experience, you will have to have a standard computer on the motor to get in engineered. I know when my bluebird was passed with the FJ it had the stock management on it.

The important thing is, however, that if you can find an engineer who will pass it then you are sweet. There are laws and regulations but no two engineers go by the same set of criteria. If you shop around enough you may find one who will pass a car with after market management. There have also been engineers in victoria known to pass cars with no Catalytic converters despite the cars running unleaded fuel?

Shop around!

here in WA in gos on the cars emmision standards for the vehicle date of manifacture not the engine emission standards- i have a datto with an fj20 in it and my car is engineered and legal with an aftermarket computer and no cat converter simply because the car wasnt manifactured with these and the way they look at it is any fuel injected motor is going to burn more effectivly than the old carby motors... we build hotrods as a hobby and the same rules go with them- gen3 motors can go into a 1934 ford and no cat convertors etc are required and i know that rule is the same as vic because they follow the same national guidelines when building them
