| how do you block off where the old oil pump has been removed from in the timing cover or do you block it off in the oil gallery? |

Could go either way though the aluminium timing cover/oil pump body is softer to drill/tap . Also it can easily be removed (once the oil pickup pipe leg bolt has been removed) and modified without getting an insitu block contaminated with iron swarf .
Just remember that if the external pump drive fails the engines history . |

the exturnal pump drive will have to be more successful than the standard pump the oil pump is the weakest link in an fj if you turn it past 8000 . i have already removed the oil pump from the timing cover all i wanted to know was it more successful to plug the main oil gallery behind where the oil is know being feed in to the engine or where the standard pump was removed from . | |
